Pressure Switch is Closed with Inducer Off. The inducer will only kick on if the pressure switch is open to initialize the call for heat.

So would that mean the switch is bad? or is there some way to reset this? I have tried turnging the breaker off and back on with no luck.

SOURCE: Goodman GMS90904CXA Wont ignite, light blinks 3 times

I had the same problem, I had to remove the lower black rubber stopper right next to the exaust fan and hook up a drain to the unit, as soon as the water drained out the furnace fired right up.

You will need to reset the furnace and have it run thru a cycle (or try). After three attempts, it will blink another error code that may tell you more.

On a call for heat, the 24 volt thermostat sends a signal to the control module. The control module will indicate a call for heat with a light on the control either blinking or remain solid depending upon model. The inducer (exhaust) blower will purge all gasses from the furnace and pressurize a pressure switch. Once the pressure switch tells the module to continue, the electronic ignition will energize and send 120 volts to the igniter. The igniter will glow and you will be able to see it if viewed thru the small inspection port. Once the igniter gets hot enough, it sends a signal to the module opening up the gas valve (24 volts). Either a pilot will come on or the burner tube will ignite then spread the flame to all burners. Lastly a safety sensor will be looking for a certain temperature within a few seconds and the furnace will continue to operate and the room air blower will turn on in a minute or two.

What could go wrong? The unit will not run if there is no signal from the thermostat (bad thermostat or broken wire), the control module does not sense a signal from the thermostat (bad control), the inducer does not energize (bad motor), the pressure switch does not close (blocked vent piping, bad switch, plugged condensate hose), the igniter does not energize (bad control, bad igniter), the gas valve does not open or there is no gas (bad gas valve, broken wire, no gas), the pilot does not light (dirty pilot), the burner does not light (bad burner, plugged orifice, not enough combustion air), the flame does not spread to each burner (bad flame spreader, dirty flame spreader, more bad burners), the flame safety sensor does not detect flame (dirty or bad flame spreader, bad flame sensor, broken wire, bad control), or the room air blower does not energize (bad fan motor, bad control).

Hi,
I would change the ignitor... they can start to go bad and do that even though they glow.... also it is not a bad idea to have a spare anyway...

Check the position of the ignitor... sometime the metal heating and cooling can pull the ignitor away from the gas flow...

Also check for dirt or corrosion in the burner or on the burner near the ignitor...

Check air shutter setting the burner may be running too lean...

Use a meter to make sure the ignition control is in fact sending power to the gas valve every time...

I feel that the answer to your problem is somewhere in these things...

Frigidaire furnace FG6RA 096C-16B comes on ignites starts to blow then 3 amp fuse blows replace it fuse blows as soon as power is on. Help

The problem is in the thermostat wiring, likely it is grounding somewhere between the thermostat and the air handler/furnace unit.

We have a 1998 frigidaire furnace. M#FG6RA 072C-12A. It has a mind of its own! there is a red light that flashes 3 times.

Check the electrical panel cover for the schematic and see if the flashes are listed with their troubleshooting codes. If not check any documentation that came with the unit, or go on the internet and do a Google search.

I have a Nordyne FG6RA 072C gas furnace that does not start. I get three blinks of the red light which indicates the pressure switch is stuck closed. I replaced it with a new one, cleaned out the inducer...

Thes switches are very sensative to any air change. Check to see if you have any restrictions in the exhaust vent. Also check to see if you have any restrictions in the furnace side such as rust or soot. The entrance to the exhaust fans collect a lot of moisture and you may ahve to replace the intire assembly. Keep in touch Rus
