If this didn't help remove the ribbon and printwheel check in that area especially on the left side near the print solenoid for paper clips or other debris.

If this is an older WW try code "X".

Bottom part of lower case letter not printing

If the problem is just one character that is not printing the bottom then the printwheel is damaged and will need to be replaced. If it is all of the characters then the platen (roller) may not be snapped down on either side.

Wheelwriter 1000 tape does not lower

There should be a little gear beneath the carriage you can turn, which will lower it:

I cannot type on my IBM Wheelwriter 5. When I press a key, the ink-tape advances and the mechanism moves forward on the page, but I think the letter is not actually striking the ink-tape.

You probably have a broken print solenoid cap. We sell the with instructions and shipping for 20.00.

It sounds like the print solenoid cap is broken except for the printwheel not spinning. the caps are available for 20.00 including shipping and instructoins. The code not working may be a keyboard for a keyboard rebuild contact Geo. Beyers Co. @800-392-8085.

On my IBM Wheelwriter 6 my Code Cap does not work.

I found the owners manual and turned off the language key. This let everything work as it was suppose to.

It sounds to me like the impression is to heavy try holding the code key down and pressing the "Q" key until the "1" light is lit.
