SOURCE: Gas Trimmer will not stay started

Many times with a gas mix, after sitting for a while, the mix separates and gums up the carb. Taking the carb off and soaking it overnight in a parts or carb cleaner and running carb cleaner through the tank and gas lines will cure this.

You need to rebuild the carburetor. You will need to go to an outdoor power & equipment store of some kind to get a carburetor kit for your specific trimmer. It will come with various gaskets, (some of which you won't use), a needle valve, and a small screen that goes in the carb. Replace all old parts with new. New primer bulb is sold seperately. When you have the carb. apart, you will also need to clean the small ports with a Den Tek Brush (used for cleaning teeth). Use carb. cleaner when cleaning.

SOURCE: Engine starts but dies when I pull throttle trigger

you need to adjust the high speed needle turn it out in 1/4 increments as you throttle it, low speed may have to come out alittle but do high speed first. I had to answer this as I use to have a pastor john in sturgeon bay, miss him alot.

SOURCE: starts fine but when u close choke and give gas,the engine dies

Sounds like you will need to clean your carburetor.
Sometimes you can get by with priming it a few times, and letting it
run a few times like that and it will flush the gunk out of the jets,
but most of the time you will need to rebuild the carburetor.
If the mower is over a couple years old, then I also recommend that you
buy and install a new carburetor repair kit, because the diaphragm will
get hard and that will cause it to be hard to crank.
When you clean your carburetor and remove the jet screws, count the
number of turns it takes to seat the jets from their original position.
That way when you go to put the jets back in, you know how many turns
they were in/out.
Please do not forget to rate me, Thanks
Good Luck, I hope this helped

Sounds like the fuel lines are crossed. Either the in and out lines on the primer are crossed or the primer line on the carbureator is crossed with the normal feed line. Good luck

Lawn Trimmer will not run

Have you checked the fuel line inside the tank? Usually there is a little filter on the end of the line inside the gas tank that when it gets dirty with restrict the flow of gas. Go spend $3-4 and replace and that should fix it. If it doesn't then I am guessing you probably still have something on one of the jets on the carb.
Good Luck

hello sir, routing fuel line for craftsman, homelite, ryobi, hedge and line trimmers, fuel tank under engine, looking at machine from rear, shall fuel line on left with filter attached goes to bottom port of carb, fuel line from right side coming out of tank with inside tip attached goes to bottom port of primmer bulb, top line on primmer bulb goes to top port of carb, fuel tank under engine, fuel line routing, looking at machine from left side, left fuel line coming out of tank(drain back only) goes to right side small port of primmer bulb, left side larger fuel line from primmer bulb to top port of carb, fuel line coming out of tank (larger line) on the right side with filter attached goes to bottom port of carb, when replacing fuel line it is very important to use the same ID and OD line the homelite takes a special line that is black in color and a bigger size, the bigger line is ID .08-OD140 small line ID3/32 X 3/16.when the lines dissolve small pieces will get in the carb clogging small passages and screen,it is advisable that you clean out carb, and use a new filter.hope this helps, any comments welcome, thank you. if the filter has broken off of the line half way that is where you will run out of fuel, oo

Last year I had to throttle it to keep the RPM's where it would run good enough to get the job done. As of 3/24 it won't even start. The gas is spot -on for the mix. Now, the primer bulb won't come back...

You are right that you probably need a carb kit to rebuild the carburetor. It is not much of a carburetor as it has a idle adjustment screw and a high speed adjustment screw that meters through a very small orifice drilled into an aluminum block. It has a small fuel pump and a thin flapper valve arrangement. The problem with these small carburetors is that the gasoline oil mixture if left in the tank over winter solidifies on the tank filter and the internal parts of the carburetor. The flapper valve in particular is only a thin plastic type covering of an air channel that gets solidified over the inlet orifice and blocks the flow of fuel to the machine. The carburetor is more likely a Walbro which is used on many of the garden tools. See:
You may be able to just take the existing carburetor apart and clean it both the orifices and the gaskets and flapper valve. Don't forget the tank pick up filter as well. The alcohol laced fuels that we have to use now, increases the problem of blocked carburetor parts. When storing the machine for longer than a month, remove all of the fuel and put some sea foam or other gasoline additive in the tank, and when activating, use fresh gasoline with a small amount of additive to help clean the carburetor. I have had some success with removing the old fuel and adding fresh fuel mixed a little heavier with oil and a little seafoam, cranking the machine about ten times to get some fuel into the carburetor, then let the machine sit overnight to help dissolve the built up gunk. After you get it running then remove the fuel and add correct mixed fuel.

It sounds like the float in the carburetor bowl is stuck down allowing fuel to pass through. If you can locate it, remove the bowl under the carb after shutting the gas off or emptying the tank, clean the bowl so the float can go up and down and try again.

I want know when you prime the carb. with the primer bulb a small amount of fuel will **** up in the primer bulb but it runs back down into the tank?

That means there is a hole somewhere in the fuel line or the bulb. The bigger the hole the quicker the fuel will run back down.

Sounds as though the fuel filter may be plugged. The filter is in the tank. Take a look, see if it is visible. Remove and replace. Good luck...Lee

Primer bulb on weedeater won't prime

when you prime the bulb it sucks gas from the tank with the small tube, any excess gassed pumped will be fed back to the carb via the big tube leading to the tank. If you prime it and the bulb stays pushed down, then you have a clog or kink. To fix , pull the small tube out of the tank through the fill hole. Pull off the filter on the end and put the tube back in the tank. If it primes, your fuel filter was clogged. If it still wont prime check the hose going to the carb and make sure isnt clogged or kinked.(take of carb and blow in it). If that doesnt fix it take off the bulb from the carb with two screws. The bulb assembly will come off too(rectange metal thing) Take off the two black gaskets, be carefull with them. Take off hoses from carb and bulb asembly. Blow carb cleaner in all holes and over surface. Put back together.
If the carb wont prime and the bulb isnt staying depressed. then you might have a bad bulb or carb gaskets. Make sure hoses are not cracked, cloged, or pinched.
