Re: emachine 2685 no power up

From the spec of the motherboard it should be one of the pin headers near the Bios battery (looks like a coin on the mobo)

hopefully (if you look close enough) it should be marked pwr

On the motherboard there will be a small set of connectors marked FPANEL, next to each of these will be a set of letters (usually PW, RES, HDD, MSG) and an earth pin, From the power switch you will see a two wire set normally black and white ending in a connector, this connects to the PW pins on the FPANEL

In your computer you have a power switch located on the PC chassis, you will find two wires coming off of it. At the end these two wires you should find a black 2 pin push plug. This should be connected to your mainboard. On your mainboard, the header for LEDs, hdd, power etc, you should see two pins labled power. Switch push plug goes over these two pins or these two pins labeled power can be shorted with a screwdriver, however this can be risky as it is very easy to touch other pins in the process and kill the mainboard. Rather use a push plug!

There are may motherboards, but most have writing on them as to what is suppose to plug where. For example, for the power switch, the lettering might be "Pwr" or "Power" or "Pwr sw". The pins are usually together and should fit the plug on the end of the wire.

The motherboard in your computer is an MSI MS-7145, which is also called RS480M. You can download a copy of the manual here. The front panel connections are on page 2-20.

Looking at the header JFP1, pins 1 through 9 (odd numbers) are the front row, pins 2 through 10 are the back. Pin 10 is the missing pin. The power switch connects to pins 6 and 8. The power LED connects to pins 2 and 4. The HDD LED connects to pins 1 and 3. The reset button, if used, connects to pins 5 and 7.

Can not find heat sink switches on motherboard emachine t2862

Heat sink switches? I have to assume that you're talking about a dead mother board but the fans and the LED on the mother board are OK? This is a classic eMachines problem. Their power supplies glitch and take out the mother board sometimes the power supply goes bad too.

Emachine W3400/ front panel connections

they have to be plugged in horizontally although it is possible to plug them in vertically because the pins are evenly spaced either way. they are color coded just not like you would expect for example one plug has a green wire and a white wire the green side goes to the green pin and the white side goes to a green pin with a white cross you have to look close because there are several green pins which is what threw me off do this with all three plugs

Emachines problem... PSU works but comp doesnt turn on

Hi, Did you just add the second CD? If you did you may need the driver for the mother board? Make sure the power cord for the cd has voltage plug it into the DVD drive also check the cable make sure red stripe is on the correct side of drive. You can download the driver at User guide is there as well. The start button has a pair of wires with a small pin connector on it. This will connect to the motherboard if there is a 3 pin set you might try moving to the other pin. The new power supply also has to provide a start voltage? Your power supply may not be compatible or it may put the voltage on the third pin.
