Hi, You will need to change the plastic bearing or it will ruin the felt seal that the drum rides on. I can assist you in getting the parts as well as how to change it if you would like. Please let me know if I can help.

I have a old kenmore dryer and it won't dry my clothes, if the rubber gasket around the door is gone will this prevent drying? Thank you Gloria

That could be the problem or if it doesn't heat up at all it's probably the heating element in it. Any local appliance supplier should have either part part in stock or look up the model online and you can order one. Replacing them is pretty easy.

My Kenmore electric dryer model 417.80412700 wont heat up but the element is still good. What else could be wrong?

Some dryers have a hi limit safety switch that is a one time fuse type switch . If the dryer gets too hot this switch opens and prevents the heating element from operating it is usually about 1/2" wide x 2" long plastic part with two wires attached to it.
You can test this part with a continuity tester. Unplug dryer, remove wires and test for continuity between the terminals. No continuity means the part needs to be replaced.
Hope this helps.

How do I replace the plastic trim around the dryer door

You have to first remove the door assembly. Then the screws that hold that whole panel in should be obvious. I do not think you can replace just the seal, the whole panel has to be replaced. I included a link so you can see that assembly.

Plastic lids sticking

I'd be tempted to try the smallest amount of olive oil, applied with a paper towel to both surfaced worked into threads. You need very very little. Alternatively get some different jars!
You can get food safe grease but it's very expensive and usually used industrially

My Kenmore HE dryer door handle has cracked. How

Carefully remove the door from the dryer by removing the screws from the hinges and lie on a flat surface face down. Lay a towel under the door to prevent scratching the door window. Remove the screws from the back of the dryer door and the hinge. The back panel should lift off exposing the screws holding the handle in place.

How to change the handle

To access the door handle mounting screws, you have to remove the inner door panel that goes around the perimeter of the glass. You can use a small screwdriver to simply pry the plastic up and work your way gradually around the perimiter of the glass. Most microwave ovens have grooves in the panel that you can insert the screwdriver into. Use care not to pry against the glass. The glass is tempered and also has an RF shield that prevents harmful microwaves from potentially harming the consumer. If you break the glass, you will need to purchase a new door.

The door handle screws are located behind the inner panel. Simply remove the broken handle and install the new one. Re-insert the inner door panel carefully and gradually work your way around the perimeter of the door glass and make sure it snaps back into place.

If you have questions, please let me know. I hope you find this information helpful.

Replace ignitor

You have to remove the front. It is at the bottom left. It is a ceramic glow coil and if bad will usually be broken or have a visible crack. An appliance store or furnace repair place will have it in stock. (It is also used on some furnaces and ovens) Bring the old one with you and the model and serial # of the dryer. You may buy a generic one and cut the plug off your old one if it is different. (Be sure to use ceramic wire nuts, not tape or plastic) The metal holder usually can be pried off too. The generic ones are usually around $15 - 20.
