Question about Dishwashers

Open Question

Water remains in bottom of tub after cycle is complete.

I have a new built in Hotpoint dishwasher. After the cycle is complete and drying cycle is done, there is 2" of water remaining in the bottom of the tub. Every dishwasher I have had always pumps out the tub and is dry on the bottom. Please advise--all lines are hooked up properly--This is A Hotpoint built in-- Model # HDA 2100N10WW The control knob shows "Hot prewash option" Could this be the reason for the water present in the bottom of the tub ??

SOURCE: water level

Some water in the tub after the cycle is complete is normal. most dishwashers are time filled with a float switch as a safety device. the actual level depends on the fill time and the water pressure. what exactly is the d/w doing (or not doing) to make you think there is a problem?

Why will my dishwasher Electrolux model #EIDW5905JS0A, not drain completely at the end of its cycle.

Good Morning Friend,

I understand your Electrolux dishwasher, model# EIDW5905JS, will not completely drain at the end of the cycle. It is not normal for water to remain in the bottom of the tub at the end of a cycle. If water remains in the bottom of the tub at the end of a cycle, the dishwasher may not be draining properly. Please follow these troubleshooting tips:

1)If unit is hooked up to a garbage disposal, make sure the disposer is empty.

2)If unit is hooked up to a new food waste disposer, check to see if the "knockout" plug located inside the disposal inlet has been removed.

3)Check to see if drain hose is kinked.

4)Make sure cycle is complete, not in a pause.

I ask that you please follow up with a comment on the post, at your convenience, to advise if further troubleshooting is needed or if your appliances status has changed successfully. Hope this is helpful.

their will some water that always remains in the pump below the fliters is should never be visible in the tub once cycle is over but it must always be there to keep the seals moist to prevent them from dry rotting

Dishwasher not drying properly; water in the cups/plates

  1. Check the water temperature. Should be 125 to 140 F.
  2. Check pump re-circulation., Listen, see if it sounds like it is spraying the water around with enough pressure.
  3. Check water level when the fill cycle has completed. Should be just under the heating element. If not, possibly need to replace the water inlet valve.
  4. Check the spray arm and pump cover for splits or leaks.
  5. Check to make sure dishwasher is draining after each cycle. There should only be a little water in the bottom of the tub.
  6. Make sure the dishes are loaded properly, or dishwasher is not overloaded.
  7. Possibly try a different detergent. Some liquid-gels will bubble and a pump cannot pump bubbles.
