Display on my Jenn-Air electric wall oven is very dim

I have a Jenn-Air 27" electric combination wall oven (microwave on top & conventional oven below). The LED display on the conventional electric oven has become very dim. The oven seems to work just fine with the exception of the display. Is this a common issue and do you have a suggested fix for this problem

Oven works fine. The only problem is a very dim led display.

Douglas9101,
I had the same problem and found the solution on-line.
Replace the C3 capacitor on the dispaly module. (100 UF, 35 volt, high temperature)
The local Jenn Air dealer wanted $211 for a new display module.
I purchased a Cap from a local electronics supply store for 79cents.
The only problem is that you need to have a soldering pencil/iron, a solder ******/wick and a small amount of solder.

Steps I had to take on my oven:
- Flip the AC breaker supplying the oven to off to be save
- remove 3 screws on top and 4 on the bottom of the display panel
- gently pull out the display panel and unplug the 2 cables to the display
- unclip the ribbon cable to the display module
- unclip the module itself by pushing on the 2 black tabs
- locate C3
- unsolder C3 and replace with new Cap- keeping the polarity strip the same as theh old Cap
- reasemble in reverse order.

It took me all of 20 minutes. It may sound difficult but is very easy if you have the tools
Good Luck
K

I replace the C3 Capacitor on the display circuit board of a Jenn Air model #JJW9627AAW - double oven from Sears after the display got too dimm. This cost me $1.50 total verses the $200 parts cost only.

Thanks for the tip man!

GREAT ADVISE!!!. I Replaced the C3 Capacitor on the circuit board of my Jenn-Air Model # JJW9627AAW - double oven with a 100uf 35 Volt Cap from radio shack. Now, I can see the Display and it was Quick, Easy and only cost me about $5.50. I had to get the Solder Wick or Brad, which was about $4.00. It helped to get to old solder off.

    Thanks again.

    Thanks

Similar problem to the above on my JennAire wall oven (JJW9527BAW) except after being dim for about 1-2 weeks, the LED display went completely blank.

Followed the instructions above, replacing C3 with 100uv / 35v capacitor from Radio Shack ($1.50) - it is now working again! Thanks for the awesone tip!

For my model, there were only four screws under the display unit, which were easy to access with the oven door open.

Replaced C3 with a 100uf 50V electrolytic cap because that's what they had at Radio Shack. The failed part was a 68uf 35V (Radial Lead). Plenty of room on the board, easy fix.
Took longer to drive to the store than to do the repair.

Yes I had the same symptom, no display on Jenn Air W30400 convection oven. The oven worked fine, but the display was completely blank. I unsoldered C3 from the circuit board, and it was a 68uF, 35v capacitor. A handheld meter showed the capacitor read only 1 uFd! So, I replaced it with a 100 uF, 35v capacitor. After re-installing the board the display worked perfectly! Great tip, saved me $200 for a new display control board.
