Question about Yamaha HTR-6160 Receiver
When my hdmi out cord is hooked to my Sharp xr-32x projector, the audio works perfectly..when I turn the projector OFF, I lose all audio from Yamaha HTR-6150 receiver...the only way it will work is when I unplug the hdmi cable from the projector, then the sound comes back...
That's the way it's designed. the hdmi gives control to the projector.

Your receiver is sensing the video source. Try using optical, or coaxial digital audio for an input, this may work.
