Reversing Valve not getting 24v

The reversing valve on my Goodman HP is only getting 19v (at wire connecting to solenoid/valve)...The output at the Defrost Control connector where the "O" wire connects is only 3v. I *think* I have a bad control board, but I am not sure what the output should be - is 3v normal? Everything else seems to be in working order. Please advise :)

Check for 24vac from common to orange stat wire if 24v then board bad in cooling mode you can jump the reversing valve using a jumper wire hook it from the orange wire going to coil don't need to shift in cooling only heating until you get time to fix

Correct wiring on a Copeland crg3 solenoid


Most solonoids for HVAC are 24v, 120, or 240v TWO wire devices and usually have no polarity requirements. Even the solonoid inside the 4 way reversing valve of a heat pump is a two wire device. But then, I don't know characteristics of the specific solonoid you ask about.

My Home AC blows hot air


You need to check to see if you have 24 volt signal from thermostat to your reversing valve. To go into cooling mode the reversing valve needs to be energized. Orange is normal color of the reversing valve power supply. On your unit will be a reversing valve which looks like a pipe with 3 pipes attached to one side and 1 pipe attached to the other side. On the side of the the reversing valve will be a coil with a 2 wire connection. This coil needs 24 volts applied to shift unit into cooling mode. In your thermostat wire bundle where it is connected, check for voltage between common and the orange wire. If it does not have 24 volts with the thermostat in cooling mode, you have a break in the line normally a connection on the orange junction inside your air handler or your thermostat orange wire is loose. Keep checking for 24 volts available until you find the source of the loss. If you have 24 volts at the reversing valve, you can check to see if the valve is working by unplugging the 2wire connection on the side of the valve, if it clicks its powered if not and 24 volts available then the coil needs replaced.
Any more than this you will need a professional tech to troubleshoot and fix.

I have a 5 ton goodmsn heat pump it only blows cold air the heat doesnt come on have a new heat strip in it but still blows cod air


Heat pumps require a reversing valve for heat operation on the outdoor section, a control signal to a "O" terminal or orange wire is required for heating and cooling depending on the thermostat and out door unit requirements. The thermostat also has to be heat pump type for the system to operate heat for electric system with heat strip, two stage electric heating.

Need to know full low voltage wiring information to thermostat


Usually the Red wire provides 24v and connects to the R termenal-
Next the Green wire is to the indoor blower motor and connects to G terminal-
Next the Yellow wire is to the outdoor unit to call for cooling and will engage power to the contactor solenoid to pass 240v power to compressor and power to Start/Run capacitor and fan! It will connect to the Y terminal-
Next is the White wire an it calls for Hea and is connected to the W terminal-
If you have an Orange wire it is for the reversing valve of a heat pump system.
Remember the red feeds 24v to each of these colored wires to complete a connection and pass power to the device being called into action.
BLue or Black wire will be ground if the thermostat needs power instead of batteries.

Red wire is the only hot 24v wire going to the thermostat period! And it comes from the Transformer!

Cool mode well reverse ob valve to heat


On a Rheem the reversing valve engages on heat. On a Goodman (and most others) the Reversing valve engages on cool. You will want the thermostat to engage the reversing valve on the orange. There may be a switch in the thermostat that allows you to chose either O or B. Select O. If you have a choice of wire on the thermostat of either O or B than choose O. Also check and make sure the thermostat wire goes to the outside unit. Also make sure you have a thermostat that is comparable with your heat pump.

Can not get Goodman 3-ton heat pump out of heat mode and into cooling mode


The reversing valve may be stuck. It allows the unit to switch between heating and cooling. You may be able to give it a tap but only on one of the ends, not the sides, and only lightly. You could also unplug the reversing valve from the circuit board. Some reversing valves are energized in heat mode some in A/C mode. When you unplug it, if it shifts, you will hear a loud hiss as the valve shifts and the pressure equalizes.

Reversing valve installed backwards on goodman heat pump have a simple comfort 2000 thermastat the defrost cycle doesn't work . can the reversing valved be wired on the terminal board to accomadate this...


You should be able to move the reversing valve wire from O terminal, (the changeover relay), on the thermostat to B terminal. I deal mostly with York
which O on the t'stat is normally open and B is normally closed.

I have a goodman heat pump and all winter it worked fine, now i set it for ac and stil blowing hot air


The reversing valve may be stuck or it has a burnt solenoid coil. Also, check the defrost relay accross the contacts with an ohmmeter and see if it's bad. Goodman heat pumps also trip on high pressure. There's a resettable switch on some units with a red button. However, I think the problem is in the defrost circuit or reversing valve. If your electric heat is on, change the board.

Goodman Heat pump


GOODMAN HAS A PROBLEM WITH A FAULTY REVERSING VALVE. THEY IMPORT VALVE FROM CHINA AND ITS NOT GOOD QUALITY, THEY ARE IN PROCESS OF CHANGING VENDOR.
