Question about Intel Celeron D 2.8GHz 478-pin 533MHz CPU OEM (CPUSKCD280533)

1 Answer

Can u help me?

My new computer loads only to C:Windows/system/mup and freezes. Further checking reveals the message Invalid media reading C:
I figured out that the partition table must be fouled. When I put in my Windows XP home
disk it starts to load but I have no display.
It seems to me that the display in Windows XP must be disabled somehow. Even my XP recover disk when it loads has no display as the screen stays grey. How can I format this drive to reinstall the XP? Or should I just get a new Hard drive and start over? The computer is 6months old, 248mb ram, 2.8ghz hard drive. Last scan with Norton Symantec
showed no hard drive issues.

Re: can u help me?

You may insert the Windows XP CD and reinstall Windows XP just to be sure. Follow the instructions on your screen and format the C Drive. Make sure you install all the required drivers to make everything work.

If you are optimistic follow the following instructions:
This will help you attempt to repair your system (and not via the Recovery Console).
Insert the Windows XP CD and follow the instructions on your screen.
Then after a certain point, you will be asked for three options --
1. Install Windows
2. Repair via Recovery Console
3. Some other option I don't recall.

Select the first option.
Then again, follow the instructions on your screen and again the computer will ask you three options.
This time select the second one -- Attempt to repair the computer (Press R).

This should start the automated repair process. This has been observed to work most of the time, but in a few rare cases it doesn't work. So I suggest you try it if you have the patience. ;-)

Good Luck.

Do you have the original installation disk that came with the computer? You can try to boot from that CD and do a repair installation. The Cyclic Redundance Check (CRC) error refers to the media the computer is trying to access (either the CD or the hard drive). Try booting into Safe Mode (reboot and press F8 repeatedly until you get a boot menu). From Safe Mode run a checkdisk (chkdsk from command line) on the hard drive to find and repair any found disk issues.

Computer hangs regularly, usually after just over an hour. But occasionally after a few minutes. Attempts to check 1TB disc unsuccessful (Extended WinDlg122) because computer freezes half way through...

Sounds like 1tb hard drive is passing quick test and then freezing extended test. And if it doesnt freeze during the 200gb test then I would guess the 1tb is going bad. Check the event viewer in windows under system and see if there are any Disk errors with a red X and that ideall will say disk drive 1 or 2 cant read it and yeah that would help confirm it is failing.

" Error loading operating system "

This is not an easy one. But to start, when you install an OS, you needed to delete the drive when you where at the install screen of windows, which you did not post which one. Then after you install an OS
you need to install the chiposet drivers for the motherboard so that it can work. Then the graph drivers, sound drivers, lan drivers. If you do not install the drivers for the hardware that is on the Mobo
windows will try and use generic drivers which are junk.

So you are going to download the drivers for all the things I said. Now when you try and install and you are at the screen that ask to install windows, look down and pick delete the partition than pick which ever letter it ask for and pick yes, now you will see to create new partition, just hit enter because
at the box on the bottom of screen has the full size of the hard drive in it, unless you need to make another partition. Now make sure that C- new raw -- is highlighted and hit enter to install windows to your hard drive, now you get- format NTFS , do not format quick.

This is the best way to install a OS on a clean hard drive. Hope you get it installed ok and all the drivers.

Pc keeps freezing PLEASE HELP

step 1: clean up your drive by using "left click desktop My Computer icon-hover drive c then right click and select Properties-look for Disk Cleanup button and select it and proceed to eliminate almost everything that you can. step 2: Then select TOOLS tab and run Error Checking and deselect both optionals then run Defrag. When done, then run Start-All Programs-Accessories-System tools-System restore and then turn off Restore. step 3: Now repeat step 1. step 4: Now repeat step 2 but turn on restore. step 5: power down (using Windows-not power plug). step 6: restart Windows if all worked ok, what you just accomplished was to free up many many bytes of data. The restore function, when used continuously, can use up a sizable portion of the drive which is also looking for free virtual memory space. Also, if you have 1Gbyte of memory or more, you may turn virtual memory off, improving speed.
