My Christie LX34 projector powers down right at the end of the countdown. The bulb looks bright, I cleaned the filters, etc. Seems fine otherwise. Help!

It's a ballast issue. it doesn't have to power to keep it lit.

My Christie LX34 looks like the lamp is burned. There is a yellowish tint on about half of the screen. Someone told me it is the prism and not the lamp. Is this correct?

It is not the lamp so don't spend cash on a new one as they are very expensive - it sounds like one of the filters need replaced or another internal problem other than the lamp - if it was the lamp the whole screen would be effected and it would not be localised.

I have a Christie RoadRunner L8 that fires up,lamps turn on and about 5 seconds after the lamps fire up it shuts down and both the warning temp. and ready lights flash at the same time. It seems to me it must be a sensor that tells it to shut down thinking that the machine is too hot-all the fans work and all of the filters are clean and it is moving serious air any clue and if so where do I start to look for such items? Thanks in advance Kirk

blow out all the dust with canned air. dust keeps in the heat that the projector is trying to expell. if the lamp has black spots, bulges, or fogging, you may need to replace the lamp. otherwise, it's the fly-eye lens. there are 2 of them between the lamp and the optical engine. the one next to the lamp is usually fine, but the second one is probably fried (due to excessive dust and heat) and needs to be replaced.

check to see if the fans are moving. if not, replace the fans. if the fans don't come up, the projector shuts down to protect the circuitry and the lamp. if the fans are fine, most likely the power supply/ballast is not producing enough power to keep the lamp lit and shuts down.

PROJECTOR POWERS DOWN

This would appear to be a bulb that has reached end of life -- or the projector thinks that it is because of hours. Usually most bulbs are 1000 or 2000 hours. Depending on your projector there are different ways of checking bulb life hours -- if you Google your projector model number and "bulb life" you will usually get a post on how to check these hours. Also, if it is a new bulb and you haven't reset the hours counter, it may need to be reset (however you also don't want to wait too long before changing a bulb that has reached EOL since they can and do explode sometimes taking out the projector with it).

Optoma H56 - turns off just after start up.

It's not a short, the blub is near the end of it's life ~ the optoma is designed to detect when the blub is about to blow and shuts itself down. Turning the projector upside down or right side up usually only gives you a brief reprieve (some have reported a modest amount of extra time gained) on the blub ~ but in the end it's on it's way out and the projector will shut down again.
