Question about MSI K8MM-V Motherboard
I am using MSI [K8MM-V] motherboard with an AMD processor and VIA [VT-8237R Plus] chipset. I'm facing regular problems with SATA. My system does not often recognizes SATA and POST does not transfers control to XP. All I get is a WHITE SCREEN with HDD LED solid ON. I restart my computer. Enter H/w SETUP. Disable SATA and, then reboot --- sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt. I have two HDD i.e. 1 IDE from where XP boots. SATA is connected on SATA-2 port. PLEASE HELP!!!
This is common to other mainboards, the SATA controller have it's own BIOS, but it only works correctly using two identical SATA HD's at same time for data protection purposes. If you have a free PCI slot there are expansion cards based on VIA chipset VT6421 with 2 internal SATA ports, other external and one IDE. See one here
