Make sure it's not being held by screws on both sides.

Might also be some clips you have to press in order to release it.

some computer cases you have to remove the front panel casing first.

So you have removed both computer casing side panels ,removed all the screws on the CD Rom and disconnected the cables from it?
After looking at your computer box from Packard Bell website you will have to remove the front panel.

To remove the front panel lift the computer up so you can see under the front panel and see if it has a clip or lever that you can press towards you to remove the front panel.

Another way would be too look inside the computer case and see if there are any black clips holding the front panel casing to the chassis(the steel internal computer frame) or maybe screws.

If it's difficult to remove the front panel then remove the floppy drive or card reader too as they can make removing the panel even harder.

Are you able to open it ?

Just bought a new stationary packard bell imedia. can't find the way to open the cd drive ? no button or nothing...how do you open this?

Depending on the OS you use it can be opened fairly easily. If you're using Windows XP or higher (I think) then just click on My computer. Then right click your cd drive. Should be an eject selection that will open the cd player. As for the physical button Im not sure where it would be located but sometimes they place them on the keyboard.

I have a Packard Bell Imedia desktop not sure of the model. It was working fine until recently, I switched on my pc and after the boot screen "NTLDR is missing Alt Ctrl Del" message appeared....

Remove the hard disk and attach it to an USB hard drive adapter and then connect it into the USB port of a working computer. This computer will detect the hard drive as an external storage device, then you can open the various folders and files to copy your files to this computer or burn your data to a CD/DVD disc or USB flash drive.
Return you hard disk back to your Packard Bell so you can reinstall Windows.

I need a manual for my gigabyte ga-t671mg motherboard so that i can connect the on /off switch

There isn't a manual available for it, as it is an OEM motherboard in pre-built PCs BUT I've the same motherboard in a Packard Bell iMedia J2422 (now in a BitFenix Colossus case!). You connect the power to the bottom left, reset top left, h.d.d led top right, power led bottom right into the Front Headers (F_Panel) - which is located on the bottom right hand-side of the motherboard. My board has writing underneath the header telling you what connects where, maybe yours does too? Hope I've helped.

ONE BAD LEAD?

try replacing all the leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions + IDE,SATA and the ones that attach from your motherboard to hard drive one bad lead will cause a computer to shut down

make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty or just replace them they are probably old and faulty ?

hope this helps

IMedia B2217 PC: DVD lid flaps down but drive

There should be a little pinhole located under the door on the bottom of the tray. Push a paperclip in the hole to get the tray open. After the tray opens, close it and see if you can open it normally, if not it's broken and needs replacing.
