Blank screen nothing show on the screen. not even the start up logo

Try pressing F8 at the start-up if it shows a menu choose to boot in safe mode and then perform a system restore. If that do not solve the problem the you have to do a fresh install of windows. If you do have a recovry disk insert and follow on screen instruction else you have to download the ISO from internet and have to burn it on a DVD.

Windows xp will not start on my packard bell i media

press F8 very after it start (just in starting mode) you will get the options for booting. Select SAFE MODE and check it will start in that. Once it is started then it will work on normal mode. If problem persists then you have to restore the windows with Window CD/DVD. If you don't want to install a fresh copy just recover the previous one.

best of luck!

Black screen, Blinking cursor for 25-30 seconds after HP logo at cold boot.Restarting PC does not add this extra step before windows startup screen. Booting from power off condition has this condition...

AS YOU ON THE SYSTEM AND EVEN BEFORE WINDOWS STARTS KEEP PRESSING THE F8 KEY CONTINUEOUSLY. A MENU WILL APPEAR. SELECT SAFE MODE AND ENTER. WINDOWS WILL LOAD IN SAFE MODE. THIS WILL SOLVE SOME OF YOUR PROBLEMS. NOW RESTART THE SYSTEM IN NORMAL MODE.

IF THIS DOES NOT WORK SELECT "LOAD WINDOWS WITH LAST KNOWN GOOD CONFIGURATION " AND THEN RESTART. THIS WILL SURELY SORT OUT YOUR PROBLEM.

PLS REPLY OR COMMENT. THANKS

Windows logo comes on and then followed by a black screen and tried safe mode/VGA and still the same and the cursor is moving about the black sreen and nothing else-- could you help it's windows...

Try pressing the F8 key at the startup (after power-on and before the logo comes up).
Choose "Fail-safe" mode using the arrow keys on your keyboard and press enter twice.

When windows is in failsafe mode there is a number of ways you can fix the problem.

Try this:
Open "My computer", right-click on your harddrive and choose "properties"
From there scan the drive for errors (mark the 2repair automatically") and fix them.
Reboot the pc...

Good luck

Display problem

You don't have a display problem, you have a hard drive problem.
It is probably a file system corruption.
Insert the Windows XP install disk into your CD drive and boot to it. At the first setup screen, press R to repair windows from the recovery console. Once the recovery console loads, type
chkdsk /r and then press Enter. Once this finishes, remove the CD and reboot. With any luck, you will be able to boot successfully, if not, come back and give details about what happens.

I have a Packard Bell Imedia 5106. I want to start it in Safe Mode so I can run a virus scan and basically clean it up. I have tried tapping F8 when I switch on. This takes me to a boot screen with three...

hmmm its seems your first F8 takes you the boot menu option of BIOS not one of the windows.

So, after selecting first option again press F8 it will bring the windows boot menu options.

You can also do one thing but it might currept your operating system, even if you want to try just start booting and as well widows goin to load press and hold your power switch till you PC goes power off. So since windows did not load properly, when you will boot it automatically brigs the boot option screen to select Normal or Safe mode.

Thanks
