Question about Plumbing

Only fills 80 gallon tank 1/5 or less then shuts off.

Hi Farmer George here, Pemberton NJ I have a 4 year old Flotec FP4022-08 on an 80 gallon tank. Recently the pump only fills the tank less than 1/5 then shuts off. Sometimes if I shake it a bit it turns back on for a short time but that's it. The psi is 35. This has been happening when i use more than about 3 gallons or so of water. Any help on this will be much appreciated.

Hey George, could you give a little more info about your setup? Is this a household water pressure system that goes from a well to a shallow well pump then to a diaphragm tank? If it's a diaphragm tank have you checked the air pressure of the tank? It maybe that the tank has a slow leak and the diaphragm pressure is too low. Also you may want to turn up the water pressure to 55-60 psi which is more typical of most households on a municipal water supply.

I am not familiar with your unit but if it is controlled by a pressure switch, you may try readjusting it or replace it. Weak springs of the contacts may be causing your problem. If it is controlled by level probes, then the relays of the control circuit may be defective.

What is the average fuel consumption of a 1996 Toyota Tamarax FX GL Wagon?

do you want to figure out how to figure yours out. a 20 year old car nothing is going to be average. to get it better lose some weight in the car. meaning don't carry 500 lbs of stuff you don't need. the less it weights the less the engine has to work which saves gas use. fill your tank normal till the pump shuts off and don't pull the handle to add more fuel. then write down the mileage. drive the car 200 miles. fill the tank again the same way. then figure out the miles you drove and how much gas you put in the tank. if you drove 200 miles and used 10 gallons you get 20 miles to the gallon. doing a tune up and checking your air in the tires can increase the mileage. good idea to check it first before doing the tune up to show it did some good. I did a tune up once and got almost 5 more miles to the gallon after

No water pressure and we just put in a new pressure tank and pump

Hi j_rodrigues5
Make sure you have about 1/4 of the tank with air...it acts as a cushion and ensures that the pressure pump will turn on and off as needed.

Lockout light flashing for 1/2 sec.

Press down and hold the reset button. You may need to bleed the oil line once you get oil in the tank.

I got 1 year old flotec 3/4 hp pump and it take

I have had the same problem there are a few things that can cause it to take longer to shut off, if you are running a sand point well that's usually a sign that the sand point is clogging up,if you have a sistern or a dug well check the screen on the end of the suction pipe, another possible cause is the water level has dropped low enough the pump is having to work harder to pull the water up, you should also check your pressure tank and the points for the pump if the points are sticking the pump will keep running till it builds enough pressure to trip them.Check for leaks in the suction line, if it is sucking air that would cause it to run longer to.I hope these suggestions will help fix the problem. Have a great weekend

Clean sunbeam 4045 self cleaning iron

Make a solution of half water and half white vinegar. Fill up your iron and get is good and hot then let it sit a couple hours. flush out and repeat as necessary. Hope you find this helpful. Please give me a fixya rating If this works for you. It works very well as long as it is not completely filled with scale. Once you have it
good and clean By a gallon of bottled water at the market and use that for your Iron and you will never have a scale problem again. I learned how to do this 20 years ago from a 80 year old woman from england. If it is really bad you can up the vinegar concentration but do not go higher than 2 cup to 1.
