I have an 11 cf upright freezer. it has been running most of the time or at least make a noise. and I just defrosted it. and its still doing the same thing. any comments?

Good Afternoon friend, thank you for your post!

I see that your Frigidaire freezer is making noise and you have recently defrosted it, but your freezer is still making the noise. Your freezer will make certain noises which are normal operating noises for the freezer.

The compressor is a high efficiency so you may hear it during start up and while running. Additionally, refrigerant circulating through your freezer can make a tapping sound or even a gurgling noise. I hope this has been helpful. -Matt

Why would a brand new fridge make strange noises already?

Good Afternoon Friend,

I understand that your Frigidaire refrigerator, model# FFSS2614QS, is making a strange humming noise. Your new, high-efficiency refrigerator may introduce unfamiliar sounds. These sounds normally indicate your refrigerator is operating correctly. Some surfaces on floors, walls, and kitchen cabinets may make these sounds more noticeable. This could possibly be the compressor that you are hearing. Modern, high-efficiency compressors run much faster than in the past. The compressor may have a high-pitched hum or pulsating sound. Hope this is helpful.

-Best Regards-
WP

Frigidaire, top freezer bought in 2008. Now will not freeze or refrigerate. Makes clicking sound and buzz. Put in relay switch to no avail. Need compressor?

Hi,

Many times a freezer and/or refrigerator do not work right because of a dirty condenser coil...there are also many other things that can go wrong.

If you are hearing a clicking or buzzing then check out the last two tips.

If your refrigerator is running but warm, then...

Check out these tips that I wrote about that... it is a great place to start trouble shooting your unit...and something that you can do rather then calling a repair person to do a simple thing for you...

I bought a new frigidaire fridge with the freezer on top. It's made a weird grunting, gurgling, groaning sound on and off from day one. Should have called Leon's where I bought it to complain but never...

hmmm, could be in defrost cycle when that happens, when the defrost element warms up and the frost/ice drips it then makes sounds about how oftern do you hear the noise?

Red element in freezer making noise

Most times that is normal when defrost takes place. The sound of frozen surfaces changing temperature quickly and you may also hear the sound of water sizzling when the moisture drops on the element. The only thing that would concern me is if the defrost remained on too long and to the point of causing a burned plastic smell. Is the refrigerator new to you or the sounds just suddenly change? There have been cases where the defrost remained on too long when the defrost thermostat becomes defective. Let me know if you have something more sever than that. Thanks, Sea Breeze

I have a new Frigidaire 20.6 cu. ft. top freezer without icemaker. When it turns on or goes in its cycle it makes a knocking sound behind freezer compartment, then stops. is this normal? . P.C Richards...

This is normal. It is the sound of the refrigerant flowing through the coil on start up. This will cause the knocking sound you are hearing. It should only last for about 7-10 seconds. You might also hear a cracking noise due to the insulation expanding and contracting due to fluctuating temperature. Refer back to your owners manual under normal operation sounds. Hope this helps.

We have the same noise. It has been lke this for about 2 years

Sounds like the fan motor in the freezer is too loose (armature bushing).Replaceing the motor should stop the noise .

Noise

Freon "boils" when compressed and pushed through the evap. causing cold. Sometimes after time you can hear it making the boil sound. There is really no way to fix it. Well... There is a way to fix but the price you would pay to fix it; you could turn around and buy a brand new freezer! GOODLUCK:)

Ice Maker Not Making Ice

Ice maker was installed properly, when you put the arm down it doesn't call for water to fill unit. It doesn't make any kind of noises at all. The water is turned on and all plugs are in there are no kinks in the line but when the arm is truned down for it to call for water nothing happens

The is for a frigidaire refrigerator.Ice maker is all new..
