First we have to know what your desktop motherboard reference is or in the case of a laptop what model it is.

Then we can see what memory ispeed and capacity it supports

RAM modules must be carefully matched to the motherboard slots, and since you don't mention your motherboard model or computer make and model, it's pretty hard to answer your question.
You could go to someplace like crucial.com and use their scanner or memory advisor to help figure this out. They make pretty good memory as well!

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!

Hi, what RAM can I or can't I add on my GA-8I945PM ?

No, *********** board only supports DDR2 Ram thus the PC2 in your current RAM. Also the maximum capacity of your motherboard is 4gb. So if I were you I would recommend going to 4 1gb PC2-4200 modules. This would reduce latency as opposed to 2 2gb sticks. Also I recommend the 4200 rather than the 6400 or anything else as that is the optimal speed for your motherboard. Kingston is a good company to buy from, I am currently using 8 Kingston FB 2gb DDR3 sticks in my MAC Pro.

I just installed a new G31TM-P21. I have a matched set of 2gig ram sticks but I am only seeing one stick in windows 7

One of the RAM sticks may be faulty. Place one RAM stick in the motherboard at a time to see if they both work. If one fails then you have identified the faulty one.

That motherboard will support 2gig maximum of DDR1 Ram at speeds of 266Mhz. You can still use upto 400Mhz but the speed will just be reduced to 266Mhz. Cheers from Scott and plz vote

Installing a third RAM stick causes failure to boot Vista. All RAM sticks work, one at a time or in pairs, in any combination of sockets, but adding a third stick causes blue screen of death and adding a...

As all clarification requests, you should be more specific so we can help you. Now your problem could most probably be that the third RAM you want to put does not comply for dual channel. If you want to use three DIMMs in a dual-channel configuration, install a matched pair of DIMMs equal in speed and size in DIMM 0 (blue) and DIMM 1 (black) of channel A. Install a DIMM equal in speed and total size of the DIMMs installed in channel A in either DIMM 0 or DIMM 1 of channel B. Your best bet is to have all your RAM in identical configurations of bus speed and size.

From zthai

intel celeron M(mobile)530 (class) the 530 denotes the type of processor configuration, not a bus speed or anything else. The 64Bit architecture uses 530,523,and 520.

Level 2 cache memory is what is on the processor. 1Mb cache memory on a mobile processor allows the chip to process info quicker.

cache memory has nothing to do with ram memory except as transfer rate.

the laptop will support 2gig ram modules X 2 for 4gig total.
it can use speed of 667mhz max or the 533mhz clock speed.

You can use either clock speed and any sets of 2X512mb, 2X1024mb, or 2X2048mb just for best results keep the size the same and the speed the same...both at 533 or 667...both at 512mb, 1gig, 2gig,

Unable to upgrade RAM......

Sounds like they are 2 significantly different speed memory sticks. Normally, the faster of the two sticks will "clock down" to match the slower stick.

Without knowing the motherboard and memory stick specifications, it's hard to tell, but it's most likely a speed issue.
