Check the back of the fridge, sounds like pipes are rubbing underneath, if you feel you are competent then follow the next steps, 1. Turn the fridge off and unplug it. 2. get to the back of the fridge with a good light or torch and inspect the pipe work, 3. make sure nothing is touching itself and be careful not to touch the black oval shape object as it may be hot (normal). if everything looks ok plug the fridge in and see if you can still hear it ,if the noise is anything other than pipe work , depending on the model you have , it could be either a fan bearing of the compressor is on its way out.

I have a hotpoint fridge bottom freezer and after I had filled the freezer with my shopping yesterday, it started making a shreeking noise, I thought maybe it needed defrosting, which it did, so I...

If both section are not working as required then its compressor fault. The noise you noticed must be from compressor related parts, that are fan,the motor and relay. But If freezer is getting over cold and friezed and fridge section not getting cold then Its defrost problem. Try manual defrost by unplugging the refrigerator from main power outlet for 4 hours then reconnect it and check, if the same problem is noticed again,. If yes then its defrost board problem. The defrost board located in the back of fridge section. You can get required parts from www.repairclinic.com or from online sears part site. ------------- Thank you.

check the operation of your damper door between the freezer and refrige compartments, this door opens and closes to throttle cold air from freezer to refrigerator compartment through the cold control, sometimes they freeze upand can't move, sounds like your door has frozen closed,if so,remove entire damper door unit, clean and deice, replace and see if this rectifies your troubles

What temp should my freezer be , also the fan in the top of the fridge stated making a noise when it stopped or started its cycle sounded like something was catching on the fans blades , then it stopped...

I like 0 to 10 Deg. F in the freezer.

As for the Fan. yes it could be ice or the fan blade hiting the shroud, sometimes the fan blade moves on the shaft and starts hiting the shroud.

Freezer has a wering sound on and on

This problem can range from a variety of things.Defrost control, defrost element/thermostat, defective fan motors, defective start relays and even more. The refrigerator should cycle into defrost every 8 to 10 hours. The fact that yours is making a noise and then stopping every 5 hours makes me think that you either have a defective fan motor condenser or evaporator or a defective start relay. Now if the freezer shows signs of frosting over this will change the whole solution. Give me more information on where and what sounds are coming from. Clean the condenser coil beneath the fridge. and examine the fan and see if top of compressor is too hot to touch, Let me know, Sea Breeze

theres ice in the fan propelar, if you see no ice blocking the propellers its the fan motor itself,if you unplug the fridge and stick something thin between the vents where you feel the air blowing thru and try turning the fan, gently and it spins smooth its the fan motor,if you dont wish to do this turn freezer off, open the door and let it defrost, then plug it in if buzz still there its the fan motor

LG refrigerator makes loud noise and then stops running.

You are seriously frozen up. Defrost the unit completely. Then, be aware that 'window shopping', leaving uncovered liquids in the box and poor door sealing (too heavy a load on the door ... too much on shelves) can cause condensation. Defrost with hot air or leave unplugged and open for about 2 days. You'll see alot of water come out.

Sounds like frosting up. Defrost completely...that can take 2 days. Restart. Also, clean the condenser. Check door gaskets, clean and replace as necessary. Don't keep door open longer than necessary.

Variable noise in freezer

That could be an idication that the fan motor is starting to fail. The bearings go out and it starts squeaking and vibrating as the fan blade becomes out of balance. If that fan stops working the fresh food section won't get cold air blown into it and will warm up rapidly.
