I just purchased the Visioneer 9450 USB scanner. After setting it up and scanning some things for about an hour, I got a small paper jam in the document feed. It was easily unjammed. However, when I went to start scanning again I received an error "Hardware Internal Fault". I've turned off, and on, the scanner, open the lid, etc. but still the error message. It's sounds like the scanner bar under the glass doesn't want to move. Is this an easy fix, or what is going on. I've had the machine a day, and only used it over and hour!!!

I see that your are inquiring if this scanner is supoprted on Windows 8. This scanner is actually not supported nor does it have drivers available for Windows 8. Is your scanner p/n 85-0101-100 (located on bottom of scanner)? If so, in theory it may work using the Windows 7 driver on our website, but ther is no guarantee.
I would suggest you look on our website for Windows 8 comaptible scanners. We also have an extensive support site and knowledgebase at http://support.visioneer.com
If you continue to experience trouble, please feel free to contact us by calling 925-251-6399..
Hello, Currently there is no driver available for win 7.But one of my friends had the same issue and he fixed it by asking windows to automatically find the driver from internet and it worked for him.So I suggest you try the same, this is what you need to do
1) First go to control panel, then open Program and Features. 2) Uninstall any driver for the Visioneer 4400 scanner that you have previously installed and reboot the computer,if there is no driver installed then skip this step. 3) Make sure your scanner is connected to the computer, now right click on "My Computer" and click "Manage" 4) Now choose "Device Manager" from the left panel and it should list all the devices on your computer on the right side. 5) Now select the option "Scan for Hardware changes" from "Action" menu on the same window, you can also do this by right clicking on any of the device name in the list (ex,drivers, keyboard) and choose "Scan for Hardware Changes" 6)A new category named "Imaging Devices" should appear on the device list now and when you expand it by clicking on the arrow, it should show your scanner as "42 Bit USB Scanner" 7)Now right click on "42 Bit USB Scanner" and select "Update Driver Software". 8) Now choose the first option,"Scan Automatically for updated driver Software" and Windows should automatically find a working driver and install it.Now your scanner should work.
Look for the fiber strip along the bottom of the scanner inside the glass. Clean it and the mirror-like thing on the carriage above it. These things work together to encode and decode. Dirt drives them nuts.
This site has the drivers, installation manual and other files, http://support.visioneer.com/products/9420/downloads.asp . However, you will need to check the bottom of your unit and select the part number for your unit.
Notes from the important notes file, make me think you will have to uninstall the driver you obtained earlier and disconnect the USB cable from the computer. Download the files from the above site and install the driver. The computer will prompt you to connect the scanner to the computer.
I have successfully used my Visioneer 9520 to scan 35mm slides, and they came out perfect. To do this, in my image editing software, I select File/Import/Acquire/Visioneer ScanManger Pro. This opens the VIsioneer scan manager window, where I select "Scan 35mm using:" and then I choose the desired scanning configuration, e.g., "35mm Better, 35mm Best, Custom" etc. See image below.
BTW: After several moves, I have lost my 35mm scanning template. Do you know where I can get another one, or do you know someone who could actually scan theirs and email the image to me? I could then create a duplicate from heavy black construction paper or card stock.
That means you are getting a 'mirror' output. What format is the output, is it PDF? Then you must have accidentally chosen the mirror switch on. Only after scanning, it is being changed, pls check your settings.
