The slots on the bottom of your laptop are for air circulation. Used with a laptop cooling system to push air through the bottom of the unit and circulate out the side vents. There may also be vents on the rear of laptop for the same purpose. Hope this helps you with your problem.

Shuts down after a few minutes

Try another battery.
If it's doing this while plugged in, there's probably failing electrolytic capacitors in the external power unit. Repair or replace it. Chances are the power supply will test as good under no load.

My refurbished Satellite A305-S6825 boots up to a blue screen and nothing else . . .the mouse moves but nothing shows on the screen and it just sits there!

Just do onthing..

Once you get blue screen, Press ALT +CTRL+DELETE Key and you will get windows task manager. There you need to go to FILE and select New Task (RUN ) and type explorer.exe and press . Now you can see the icons on desktop. If still you are not able to get icons you have to format or Repair the operating system

Built-in speakers suddenly don't work. Toshiba Satellite A305-S6825. Using Vista. Drivers are current...speakers not muted...checked hardware in control panel...no problems. Help...thanks

I've had to deal with this SO MANY times! Go into control panel -system -hardware -device manager to look for the problem (should have a red or yellow "X") (if something is wrong with the driver, which is what has always happened to me for no reason whatsoever!). So, just delete & reboot; this should reinstall the driver. Hope this helps!
