Question about Belkin (F5D5231-4) Router
What? The form should be MODEM >>>ROUTER>>>>DESKTOP
and you also plug your laptop into the ROUTER.
Plug in both machines and see if you can access the internet from each one. Put the disk in the drawer. From the desktop machine, open up nternet explorer and on the address bar type in 192.168.2.1. If it takes you to a setup page, you are half way there. Now click on the LAN DHCP Client List and see if you can see TWO machines, your desktop and the laptop. If you can, you have a software networking issue between machines, typical of the Vista operating system and a little sharing issue. If you can't, then you need to look at each computer's network card and make sure it is enabled.
For your or anyone else needing it, here's a copy of the manual. Your manual setup starts on page 32. http://cache-www.belkin.com/support/dl/f5d5231-4_manual.pdf
