I replaced the ignitor and still no heat. Checked the ignitor, senors, thermal fuse, thermostats and timer and all good. No power is getting to the ignitor. Suggestions?

Finally got a repairman and he found problem. Problem was actually the terminal fuse. Replaced fuse and dryer working again. Thanks for your all your help!

May things can cause no heat.
If it is an electric type look for:

1. Safety device has malfunctioned or is the non-resetable type and must be replaced.

2. The timer has malfunctioned. Needs replaced.

3. Element(s) have burnt out or a wire has burnt off to the element(s) or some become disconnected.

4. Possible loss of full power. Be sure you have the proper voltage going to the unit.

5. Clogged exhaust system causing safety to activate, thus, no heat.

I would look here before going any farther.
Please keep in mind that repair by a tech may cost more that purchasing a new unit.

Good Luck and hope this gets something done for you. Please let me know what you do.

Thanks.

There is either a safety device keeping the ignitor/ ignitioin module from coming on or the ignition module has gone bad. It's electronic so the only fix is replacing it. Another possibility is that the ignitor itself has gone bad. Again, the only fix is replacement.

    Thanks

  • Dennis Boxerman May 18, 2009

Don't get the 2 devices confused. The ignition module is the unit that either supplies the "Spark" or power to the ignitor. The ignitor will either spark or glow red in an attempt to light the pilot, depending on the manufacturer. The ignition module can be an exposed or an enclosed circuit board. I would look there for your problem since you have indicated that everything else is O.K.

Again, good luck and hope this gets it done for you.

Dryer drum turns, no heat, replaced thermal limiter

Your model which we call the 417, is not usually easy to work on. The heating element is located behind the dryer drum. The drum has to be removed to change the element. There is a lot involved but given the cost of a stack unit the element and labor may be worth it.

NO HEAT FRON DRYER , DRUM OK

either your heating element,hi-limit switch, cycling heat switch, thermistor, control panel, or you don't have 240 volts supplying the dryer,120volts will still let the drum turn or the timer count-down, its the way there wired

Dryer heats but drum does not turn when the start button is pushe

You need to check the drum belt. With dryer empty, reach in and give it a spin. If the belt is good, it will stop in 1/2 turn or less when released. If the belt broke, it will spin almost a full turn.

Whirlpool dryer WED5530SQ0, heats but does not run

So,. basically your drum doesnt turn. SO your getting heat still even though the drum isnt turning. Is this right? Sounds strange??? Do you hear any humming noise when you push the start button? I need to know a little more about the problem because im kinda confused as how you decribed the problem. Iv never seen a dryer heat but the drum not spinning. especially your model dryer. Its electric heat right? because if the drum doesnt spin, maybe your motor is bad. and if your motor is bad, then your heating element wont heat up because the centrifical switch in the motor is not switching to complete the circuit to the heating element. So this is why im confused when you said" Dryer heats when knob turned but when "push button" pressed, drum doesnt run." Because your belt wraps around the motor pully and the motor is what makes the drum turn. Like i said, i never seen this model dryer heat with out the motor operating. So if you can give me some more info, ill do my best to help you out....Thanks!!!!

Have you checked the belt? That's generally the problem when a dryer stops spinning.
