Settings, Network Settings.

It's pretty self-explanatory from there.

My ps3 takes 40 seconds to show friends on list then another 40 toopen text message very frustrating please help me

Unfortunately this has more to do with your internet connection then your PS3 hardware. There are two things you can try with very little investment in time and money. First, make sure your connection is good. If your using a wireless signal, be sure your PS3 is getting plenty of signal. If not, try moving it closer to your wireless router. If your using a wired connection, make sure all wires are plugged in correctly and securely, both into the PS3 and the router.

If your using a wireless connection, try switching to a wired connection. This can improve online features by a significant amount. A good Ethernet cord ( the type used by a PS3 to connect to a router) can be picked up at a good price at your local electronics store, or at a larger hardware store like Home Depot or Lowes. Ask at the help desk and they can point you to the cords.

The playstation 3 does not work with certain games saying there is an error on the router (error code: 80710723) How can we open more ports on the router? Thanks for your help

Generally what happens is that progress will stall whilst you are trying to update the firmware or software/games on your PS3, causing it to be corrupted. Your console is then unable to function properly, and you are left trying to "pick up the pieces" as it were. The PS3 error 80710723 is one of these system update errors, and is often experienced by gamers who use wireless connections to update their firmware or games.

So how can you fix PS3 system update error? Here are a few steps you can take to try and fix the 80710723 error code yourself.

  1. In your System Options/Network Settings you need to go and disable a setting called "media server". Doing this has been reported to fix the PS3 system update error in a number of different cases.
  2. If you are using a wireless network connection then switch to a wired connection and attempt to update your console. Wireless connections can have interference, or fail from time to time. Therefore it is better to use a wired Internet connection where possible.
  3. As a last ditch resort you can actually download the update from the Sony website onto your PC, then load that update onto a USB stick and plug it into your PS3 and carry out the update process from there. However, it is best to actually try and fix your connection problems first.

try resetting the ps3 by turning the power switch on in the back then try holding the power button for about ten seconds. then turn the ps3 back on and try setting up the connection again. you may have to set your audio and video settings again as well.

Ps3 controls not connecting

If they work wired and not wirelessly then you might have a problem with your wireless access module. Can you access the internet through your PS3?

Need help with ps3 internet hook up

you can go wireless, but personally wired is better. what router do you have? switch everything off, plug a ethernet cable from one of your ports on router to ps3 then then switch it all on. on ps3 go to settings - network settings - internet connection settings - then select easy - then whether you wanna do it wireless or wired (up to you) then let it do its thing, once its found all your settings you can test the connection.
Have you set up an account on your ps3 yet?

Internet Connection

On the X-Cross Media Bar, (the menu that comes up when you turn on the PS3) under "settings", go to "Network Settings".
then go to "Internet Connection Settings". select "yes".
go to "custom", "Wireless", "Scan".
If your network is not listed, move your PS3 closer to the Wireless Access point.
Select your Network and enter your password (if it needs one).
select "automatic" for everything.
select "Test Connection".
the "Obtain IP Adress" and "Internet Connection" should say "Succeeded".
If not, contact your system or network administrator or a teacher that knows a lot about computers.

Playstation network problem

Wired connection or wireless? If you are using wireless, try switching to wired temporarily and see if the PS3 stays connected.
