I am having trouble getting this 1999 xerox model to fax. It takes my paper, dials the number, and acts like it is ringing, but never connects to the other fax machine. This is my business fax machine. I have tried sending a test fax to my home fax, an HP 7130, which has always taken faxes from the Xerox in the past, but no luck. Any ideas? Have unplugged the machine and replugged it in, have unplugged the phone cord and replugged it in, checked for jams, checked to make sure the unit will print a test page, no problem with any of these tests. this problem just came on a few days ago. Not sure what the problem is, but it certainly is causing my business a problem.
Any ideas what is going on? Could the electronic controls in the machine be worn out? Could it be something else? I am in need of any assistance/ideas/help you can offer.

Printer would not feed paper no matter how many sheets were in the bin or how clean the printer. I even cleaned the roller. The issue was I just needed a little more tension on the roller that pulled the paper in.
I removed the rear access door (see manual). Off to the left near the feeder roller you will see a spring. What I did is mover the spring to the END of the plastic arm that it is attached to (if it is missing ..you have a bigger problem). If you have moved your printer around a bit, the spring may have slipped down on to the arm and is no longer sitting at the end. This will extend the spring another 1/16 of an inch ...and that is all all it took for me. My printer will now feed a single sheet of paper with no issues. BTW: I put a drop of glue on it after so it would not slip off.
Your probably got the copy key (readout) set at 10 copies. Try to go to the Xerox site and query for the instruction manual, this works most of the time. This will tell you how to negate the multiple copies
your toner has nothing to do with sending/receiving faxes. If you can print to the xerox...something is wrong with the software.. delete and re-install software..Xerox website is useless check the black sensor that dangles into the paper tray. wiggle it up and down, ahten resintalled the tray
