SOURCE: Dryer won't work, Check Filter light is on

I had exactly the same problem with my newish LG dryer. I deduced that the dryer's computer essentially needed to be rebooted. I pulled the plug for a minute or so, then plugged it back in. It works perfectly now.

SOURCE: My LG dryer will not power up

You may have a broken door switch.  That would be the most likely source of your problem since the machine will not work if the computer senses that the door isn't closed.

SOURCE: 2008 LG Dryer will not heat.

i am sending you all the possibilities for your problem, check either of these causes ----and than let me know if it is solved----

Power from the house
Check to see whether there's power getting to the dryer. Is it plugged in? Check for blown fuses or tripped circuit breakers--your dryer uses two fuses or circuit breakers. The dryer could tumble but not heat if only one of the two fuses is blown. If you have circuit breakers, one of the two circuit breakers can trip, even if the two for the dryer are connected.

Heating element
Often a dryer heating element burns out, but doesn't trip the circuit breaker or blow a fuse. The heating element is simply a long coil of special wire. You can check it for continuity with an ohm meter. No continuity means the element is bad and you need to replace it--electric heating elements aren't repairable.

Thermal fuse
On many dryers, there's a thermal fuse mounted to the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel. The fuse--which is about an inch long--is usually embedded in black resin and mounted in a white plastic housing. If the fuse has blown, you need to replace it. (You can't re-set it.)

Wiring
A common problem is for the main wiring connection from the house, at the dryer, to burn and break its connection. Because the dryer can still tumble with partial power, the connection may be only partially defective. You may need to replace both the power cord to the dryer and the terminal block inside the dryer that the wire is attached to.

You might need to check the exhaust on the rear of the Dryer, or the blower motor iether one has lint inside, restricting the air flow

I need to get the front panel off my LG DLEX5170W 7.3 cu. ft. Ultra Large Capacity Steam Dryer to install heating element. Please help..

Question edited for clarity and typo.

From my experience with this type of dryer, you start at the rear. You undo the fixings on the rear console, then you remove the lid and finally the front and sides.

Lg dryer Dlex5170w completely shuts off when I push the start button.

Check the ground/neutral connection. I have a 3 wire cord and I found in my panel that the neutral and grounding bar were not bonded so the fact that my bare copper wire was connected to the ground bar which was not bonded to the neutral left my dryer without a grounded connection to provide a clean 120v from each hot leg to ground. I bonded the neutral to the ground and all my problems went away and my dryer works great again.

Hi I'v LG DLEX5170W I got it from us and I live in Egypt the prb. is we have 220 v and I can't conect it so which wier is for the heater is it the black or the red

You would need to purchase a step-down transformer which will take the 220 volts input and convert it to 110 volts AC in order to power the machine without changing anything on it.

Dryer wont heat

Sounds like your heating element has went out. So you will either have to replace it $100 to $150 or purchase a new one

LG Dryer Problem DLE6977S doesn't heat/dry clothes. The check filter is flashing but the filter has been washed. What else can I try? Cooling light is on as well, but not flashing.

there is a sensor located underneath the lint trap, gently clean it off, you may want to disconnect the vent tube and run the dryer as the vent may be restricted. Tim

Our LG DLE0442W electric dryer is now flashing the Check Filter light and will start, but only run for about 5 minutes before shutting off. I have cleaned the lint trap completely and have also tried...

Clean any lint that got by the filter as best you can. If you can, get into the housing that surrounds the filter and clean it, but be careful not to damage the moisture sensor.
Check that the duct (behind the dryer) is clear of excess lint and has no obstructions (kink, bird's nest, etc.).

Good luck

My LG dryer will not dry anymore. Lint is only on 1/4 of the lint screen when I pull it out. It takes about 3 hours for one load to dry

First check that the duct is clear of obstructions.

A quick way is to place a wet towel in the dryer, remove the duct from the wall and let the machine vent inside of the house. run it at high heat without the filter screen in.

While it is running check for good air flow by placing your hand near the dryer vent. Also note if there is any heat. also listen for the sounds of the drum turning.

If there is good flow and good heat then the filter screen of duct needs cleaning. Inserting the filter screen and running the test again will tell you which it is. If there is a noticeable difference between filter in and filter out then the filter needs cleaning.

If there is good flow and no heat then the dryer element needs to be checked and either a thermostat or element replaced.

If there is no flow then the blower needs to be replaced.

If there is no drum spinning but heat and flow then the belt needs to be replaced ( Extremely unlikely)

If all of these conditions check out then you will need to call a tech in to diagnose.

LG Dryer 5977 will not dry

If one of the two thermal fuses are blown you will not get heat.  Thermal fuses blow (and are not resetable, they must be replaced) when the machine gets too hot.  Often this is caused by not enough air flow through the machine.  Check and make sure your exhaust vent is not clogged.  Clean it the best you can to get all the lint, dead mice, bird nests, etc. out.  Also make sure air is blowing out of the machine when it is turned on.  If not you have a blower problem.
