Hello there, first thing you should do is to check the power cable. You can do that by changing it with PC power supply cable .It is the same. If it turns to be OK then disconnect the VGA cable from monitor and then try to power monitor on.There should be an activity on front power LED. If the power LED is not showing any light at all, then do not go further the unit is not working .Else the power led should blink a couple of times then a window pop up scrolling on the lcd saying :" no video signal" so the unit is OK ..Hope this helps. Cheers.

When I turn on my computer the monitor light turns green then turns yellow. And won't come on.

I just had this same problem recently. As a computer tech I prefer fixing other peoples computers and NOT mine. Your case may be similar to mine. If you have a good monitor you will be hoping that it isnt similar to mine. Ok the short of it is either your monitor is bad or your video card is bad. First lets make sure we have covered the DOH items. These include making sure the video cable is plugged in all the way on both ends. Also make sure the video card has stayed seated in its slot on the motherboard. If Video card is integrated then this wont even be a possibility. Now take a known good monitor and swap it in. If you are like me you appreciate as big a monitor as you can get and hopefully you still have an old small one hanging around. If you dont have you you may need to borrow one from a friend or work. If the known good monitor works then your monitor has gone bad. It happens all the time. I have a stack of dead LCD monitors. some can be fixed and some cant. You can also take your monitor to work to test it with known good computers. Keep in mind that if the monitors are different sizes you will need to make sure the computer is shut off before plugging the monitor in. The system reads info from the monitor to make sure the resolution can be handled during boot. Your symptoms generally mean the video card is not working. The monitor light goes orange because it is not getting a signal. That signal can be interrupted in the monitor as well though. Testing will tell you which it is.

The power lite goes on and off and screen wont lite up

telepathy do not work, you need to state what computer brand, what model, what monitor, meantime follow that procedure:

1. switch off computer and monitor
2. disconnect all cables on the back of the computer and monitor
3. re-connect all cables
4. re-power your monitor (is light on? any message on the screen?)
5. re-power your computer - is there any activity on the screen?

if there is no joy:

6. change monitor for known working one and check for display,
7. connect your monitor to known working computer,

is there a display on your monitor? is there a display on borrowed monitor?

if there is display on borrowed monitor, that mean that your monitor is at fault, especially if your monitor do not work on another machine.

if neither monitor work on your machine but both work on other, this will indicate video card at fault (most probable) or motherboard, or memory all of these need to be assessed before further proceedig can be advised.

before further help is sought, state clearly what computer, motherboard type and model (all in one?), video card model, monitor model

Monitor wont turn on

but are you hearing any start up sound when you turn on your pc? check if its the monitor/lcd or the videocard is the one having problems, try to hook a known good external monitor2_bing.gif. if it has the same bad display, its the videocard. if it has good display, then the lcd2_bing.gif/monitor is the part you need to replace.

Monitor power light blinks on and off continously, no picture

Get a known good working monitor and hook it up to your computer and turn on the monitor and the computer, if you get video then you know the original monitor is bad.

If you don't get video from the known working monitor then you know that the computer is the problem.

Monitor light flashes green and screen is blank

Best thing to do, hook up another known working monitor to the computer and this will verify that the computer is working properly.

If you get video on the known working monitor when you turn on the computer then you know the computer has a problem.

When turned on, it immediately turns off after about 5 secs. can u help me find solution regarding this? thanks

Sounds like it could be that the lcd is going bad in your monitor. Try hooking up a known working monitor to your computer and if you get the video to stay on then you know the original monitor is bad. If you cant' get the video to stay on even with the known working monitor then you know that the video card inside of the computer is bad.

My monitor light is on, screen is blank. Monitor has worked for years, suddenly I cannot get anything to show up. Screen is black. I have tried restarting the computer, disconnecting and reconnecting the...

Try another known good monitor. If it works then you know your old monitor has died. If the known good does not work then it could be a graphics card issue. Also check your monitor cable to make sure it is not cracked or any broken pins on either end. Also check to see if cable has possibly come loose on either end. Hope this helps you out.

E-machine was working fine last night got up and it turns on but the monitor says check cable or power but all is ok.Computer wont display anything, can anyone help?

Do a reset: Turn the computer and monitor off. Unplug the monitor video cable from the computer and unplug the monitor power cord from the wall outlet. Let it sit for 5 or 10 minutes. Plug everything back in, turn on the monitor, then start the computer. Sometimes that will work.
If you still have the same problem, try to borrow a known to be good monitor from somebody. If it works, then you know your monitor is bad.
It's also possible that your video circuitry is bad. If the monitor plugs straight into the motherboard (onboard video), then you'll need to purchase a video card and install it. Disable the onboard video first.
