Re: how to remove face plate

All i did was slip a knife blade between the silver part and where the face plate meets it. It simply pops out after aplying some upward pressure. There are a few places where the face plate has to be popped before the entire thing is free

Can I take the plate cover off my Nokia 6015i mobile to dust the display screen?

This is very easy. Take the back off the phone. Then turn the phone upside down and with the key pad facing you, grasp the bottom of the faceplate with your right thumb and pull outward, while at the same time wiggling. Do not worry about the snapping or cracking sounds, that is normal.
Be very careful on cleaning the LCD. They are sensitive and use a lint free rag.

Buttons on face plate dont work

May not be a solution to this problem in particular but get on ebay and find a new flex cable for like 6 dollars. The flex cables in slider phones break down or come loose easily. Usually this causes your screen to turn white. In your case the buttons have stopped working. It may be another problem altogether. So try replacing it, its cheaper than buying a new phone or taking it to a shop. Hope it helps!

You can't take the faceplate off you have to buy a snap on cover. This makes the phone thicker but if you want a different look that is what you have to do. You can also buy phone stickers and decorate the front and back.

Need to replace faceplate for nokia 5300

Start by removing battery. Then remove the camera plastic panel. After that you will need to loosen the screws holding the faceplate in on the top. You will require a special tool for this but it can be purchased from most places that sell DIY faceplate kits. After careful prying the faceplate should come loose. Keep in mind that the screen over the LCD screen is taped on and will need to be removed separately.

Found this on Howard Forums. Sorry no photos.

Take off your battery, unscrew the screws on the back of the phone with a T6 screw driver.

Pry off the back plate, lift up circuit board gently(be mindful of flex cable) remove the flex cable from mail board by lifting brown part by the connector,

Unscrew then next 2 set of screws(be careful of flex cable!) remove the LCD board from the faceplate.

Now put the LCD Panel into the new faceplate. Find the new back slide and put your sliding rails on.(you may also put the slide magnets on from the old housing) carefully thread your flex cable through the opening.

Snap the Back slider on and then screw in the screws, then take the keypad housing and screw it into the slide rails.

Reconnect the flex cable by putting the brown hatch up(gently with finger nail) gently feeding the cable into the connector until the white line is about to the end of the connector.

Then put the brown thing down and apply little pressure.

Put the mail circuit board back into the phone with the headset jack going in first.

Then snap it back into place.

Transfer your speaker over the the new back housing with the prongs facing up.

Then screw on the back housing.

Replace battery and your DONE!!!

Best of Luck.

I had the same problem and I was lookin on a forum/blog on how to do this, but not many helped.I'm about to attempt to change my faceplate and I noticed when you take the battery cover off, there are 4 screws under the cover, and one near the antenna. You probably have to take apart the back part of the phone to get to the screws that are attatched to the sliding part of the phone. Its probably a little risky and tricky, but Im guessing thats how you get to the 2 hidden screws.

How to change my faceplate

The face plate snaps on, unless your talking about changing the front LCD cover. Then I would take it to my local service provider store and let them do it. It's there job.
