Panasonic PT-53WX52 blue convergence problem

I have the same problem as the previous post, but with the blue setting. The solution said it was a bad amp or resistor and I have no idea what either of those are or how to fx them. Can someone please educate me on this?

Re: Panasonic PT-53WX52 blue convergence problem

I think your convergance amp ic are bad.
The STKs are common and if you have an experienced electronics tech around they can replace them for much less money but the tech must have advanced soldering and IC exchange experience.

The STK ics, two of them, can be purchased on line for around $20 to $40 each.

Partstore has two models available - one for around $40 and another for around $55.

The part number is STK392-110 and if you google you can find them for as little as $6/each but I don't recommend the cheap ones as they are not reliable.

It takes a good tech around 3 or 3 hours to take the old ones out and solder in the new ones. Also, it is likely one or two resistors are burnt and will need replacing as well.
Don not run the tv till you have it fix you will cause more damage!

Power light on our Panasonic PT-53WX52 flashes on and off without a picture coming on anymore.

Great, that is good news. It means one or both of the convergence chips are bad.

I can give you start to finish instructions in the Market Place here.

Let me say the instructions tell you everything you will need, where to find the parts (cost will be under 25 dollars) and how to do the repair.

If you can solder you can fix this set, I have fixed hundreds of them. I can only offer you so much help for free but for paid I can offer unlimited help.

Look for me in the Market Place here as SD TECH.

Hi, I couldn't use convergence for blue color, there is no blue cover bar moving at all. And the screen is yellow tinted. I an thinking i need to replace the blue picture tube. Please help.

Its more likely that the convergence ICs have failed which is causing the blue not to be adjustable. The PT47WX52 convergence repair kit works for your model as well and is available from the kit contains the parts and the CD with instructions.

The colors on my tv doesn't line up right. It has a 3D look and i tried to converge it. It will not let me do it. Its a panasonic HDTV PT-47WX42, PT-47WX52, PT-53WX42, PT-53WX52, PT-56WX42, PT-56WX52

set uses two of the STK-392-110 chips for convergence.

Both will have to be replaced.

I have start to finish step by step instructions for this repair based on me doing it in hundreds of these sets.

If you want the instructions, do you have a email?

My rear projection tv just failed me by turning off. The picture seemed fine, no convergence, but it turned off while the power indicator blinks three times. Have read similar posts, but did not have the...

Yes, the three blinks is short protection. If one or more of the 2.2 ohm blue resistors is white in the middle one of the STK-392-110 chips got it.

I may be the one whose post you saw. I have start to finish step by step instructions for this repair in this set.

I can also tell you the best place to get them and the instructions tell you everything you will need and how to do the repair in the best way.

They are based on the fact that I have fixed hundreds of these sets with the same problem you have.

Cracked bulb or lamp?

There are bad solder connections on the Convergence Amp IC's. When you moved it , the connections that were loose are now disconnected. Resolder the pins on these IC's and you should be ready to watch TV again.

Your TV most likely has a Convergence Chip Failure ( common problem )

Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.

You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site They have put together convergence repair kits for most models.

The kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, thermal paste, etc. Everything you will need to do the repair yourself.

Panasonic PT-53WX52 blue convergence problem

Scotta, when the convergence IC`s fail it will sometimes eat a few of the support resistors, If your not proficient at soldering work then I would advise you to call a tech, 5 years is about normal for convergence IC failure.
As for 300-350 it really makes a big difference where you live, a service tech in NYC has to charge a lot more than a tech in a small town, His or Her overhead is waay higher, remember you can shop around for a good price, any professional tv tech can do this job. If you want a ballpark to think about heres what I would charge and I`m in a medium size town in Florida $260 + 6% sales tax. Hope this helps ya, Happy Holidays

You have defective convergence amps. At least one. I would also look for any burnt or open resistors.
