Question about Pioneer PRO-510HD 53" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Loose Sound and Picture very now and then, but TV stays ON

My set was installed in mid-2001, though when i talked to pioneer about this model number, I was told that this set was manufactured in 1999!

The set ran nicely and still works well most of the time, but in last four or five months, it has devloped the following problem.

Every few days, my Pioneer Elite PRO-510HD looses picture and sound, but the green light on the bottom stays lit! Neither come back if I just live the set in that condition. But, if I turn it OFF, wait for about 10-15 minutes, the TV operates with picture and sound and acts normal -- until the problem occurs again.

Someone told me that this problem could be due to a bad Deflection Board! Can some one please tell me what a Deflection Board is and what would cause my problem and how I'd go about fixing it.

Thank you so much.

Configuration Problems

Improperly configuring TV setting can cause problems. Verify the TV settings are set correctly. First, brightness and contrast should not be set to high or to low because this can cause poor picture images. Second, adjust the color on the TV when the picture displays colors poorly. Third, if you are having sound issues then check to make sure the volume is not muted or turn down all the way.

TV picture goes out after 10 minutes of viewing with popping sound

It can be a couple things. Something bad on the power board. Or the vertical output circuit. How long ago did you purchase the television. Your best course of action is to have it serviced.

Pioneer 52" projection TV, SD-533HDS,

It is likely that the CRT's (picture tubes or bulbs) are weak. It is a major job to change and all three should be changed to make the picture like new. However, it is not costwise to repair this old of a TV even if you can get the tubes. I estimate the cost of each tube is at least $200 each. I would call Pioneer and give them your model number and see if they are available. Only a trained technician should change the tubes because it requires a lot of time and setting up of the tubes and other things.

Pioneer SD-532HD5 - Picture Bowed on sides only on 1080I

The problem you are describing is known as a pincushoin problem. I'm a bit surprized that you only see it on the 1080i signal though. I've inquired at my Pioneer contact about this and will update this soon.

Stay tuned...
