Sound goes off after 5 minutes

The TV worked fine for about a week. Now I turn it on and it works fine for 5 minutes then the sound disappears. Occasionally the sound will return after about an hour but the time is getting longer.  There have been times when I have turned the TV off after 3 hours and the sound had not returned
