SOURCE: CD-ROM drive doesn't acknowledge DVD-ROM, what's wrong?

CD-ROMs dont play dvd becuase they are not designed to read dvd.

If a dvd drive for your model is not available, you can buy an external usb dvd drive.
That should solve your problem

I need to know what cd-rom's are compatible with a compaq d530 usdt

All CDROMs would be compatible with your system, although a particular program's compatibility with your system would be dependent on its minimum requirements and whether your system meets them. If your system has a DVD-ROM or DVD-RW drive, you would also be able to run DVD-ROM discs, as well.

Does this have a cdrom?

YES, it has a 48x CD ROM drive.

It is not a burner.

You can play music read data from the CD, but you cannot burn CD's or DVD's.

Getting problem in formatting the IBM PC

check if the cable from the cd rom connected to your ibm pc if its ok , also check the master, slave configuration pins into the back of your cdrom. make sure that theres no conflict between the hard disk and the cdrom. Your cd rom may probably cannot be detected. make sure that it is working first. then install the hard disk. The hard disk must be in primary master and the cd rom must be in primary slave. then try booting it to your cd rom. also, try checking if your windows xp setup disk is bootable, it means that it can boot from cd rom. PM me if you have other experiences after doing what i adviced. Thank You.. heres my email.

Dvd-cdrom plays music-cd.Not dvd-cd :No Valide Drive/Disc Found

Simply change the ROM to DVD RW drive since this is an old PC and now days nobody uses a dvd rom but a dvd writer. It will be worth it since it can do all the functions and is also more hardy........sodeep

Dvd/cd rom will not says missing file (code)39

Not very much information was provided in your problem. The issue could be many things. The disc may be damaged. Or, if it was burned on another DVD/CD device, it could be incompatible. Note that when burning a CD or DVD, it is best to use a slower speed. Higher speeds can result in a disc that may not work in slower drives.

I can't play CD/DVD from my laptop. When i opened the device manager, there are 2 drives: HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-T10N ATA Device and WC6037K IYL929R SCSI CdRom Device. The first device doesn't work when i...

In Laptop obviously there is only one CD/DVD rom drive present.

So first confirm have you got any mark in the device manager entry for WC6037K IYL929R SCSI CdRom Device. If yes then you need to go in the BIOS and detect the Boot priority and enable the CD Rom there.
Check out the event viewer entry if showing any red cross entry related to CD/DVD rom and try to search it out on net.

If the CD/DVD drive is opening or ejecting out then it working and if it is not may be the failure in Drive and need to replace.

Other entry you had mentioned is for RAM (memory)

My Cd-Rom/DVD-rom don't work. It doesn't open any folder. I thought I have problems with drivers: SCSIVAX DVD/CD-ROM SCSI CdrOM DEVICE DVD-ROM SD-R2102 TOSHIBA LAPTOP SATELLITE 5005-S507 THANKS, OSCAR

According to the Toshiba website, the scsi cd-rom/dvd-rom does not require a driver to operate, but the driver for the scsi controller card it plugs into may need to be reinstalled or updated. Visit the following link, and go to the section labeled scsi cdrom/dvdrom. At the bottom of this section there are two links to websites where you may be able to find the drivers for your scsi controller card.
