Question about Boating
Volvo Penta marine diesel 2003T engine has diesel in the sump. (diesel diluting oil) Took out injectors and injectors and had them tested. both fine when tested on bench. took out feed pump and tested to 4 bar no leak. Is it possible that diesel can leak into the sump via one of the 3 injector pumps while running, if so what is the cure. the engine is 17 years old but has only 200 hours.
I owned one diesel engine. I would say the engine siphoned the diesel after it was shut off.
The throttle controls may not be closed. The injectors were tested for their opening and spraying, but were they tested for closing and sealing when off? Diesel fuel lines maintain a vacuum or they get air bubbles. Cooling cylinders create a draw right into the crankcase. Last idea-crankcase vent clogged
