Question about EliteGroup AMD Sempron 2400+ Boxed CPU W/ECS K7VTA3 Motherboard (ECSK7VTA3SP2400)

1 Answer

Memory/ Mother board

My motherboard is only recognizing half of the memory I have inserted. I've put 2 1gb cards in and it only recognizes 500 for each of them. Is there a chip set update for bios or something I can do? or is it just a bad motherboard?

Required Intel SL9CB Pentium, 3 GHz compatible motherboard

Pentium 4 HT, Model 531. sSpec number SL9CB.

OK. So far I know you need a motherboard that has an LGA 775 processor socket; needs to support Intel processors that are Single-Core, and with an 800MegaHertz Front Side Bus.
(800MHz FSB)

Ram Memory? Dunno. K
Do know the rule of thumb is, that the Ram Memory typically operates at Half of the processor's FSB.
Therefore can only assume the ram memory is DDR Sdram, and operates at 400MHz. (PC-3200)

You haven't stated the motherboard chipset that was used, OR what computer manufacturer, and model number; this mobo came out of.

Also didn't state if you are using a graphics card, and what kind it is.
(PCI, AGP, or PCI Express)

This isn't a 'guess-ti-mate'. Exact specifications are required in order to replace the motherboard.
Otherwise you may not be able to reuse the Ram Memory, or graphics card. (IF used)

I have a Pentium 4, 3.00Ghz 3.01 Ghz desktop and wish to upgade its am memo fom 500 mb to 4 gb or even 8gb. Is this possible? and what memo should I look for on ebay ?

You need to find the motherboard manual with all the specifications in
to find out what type to use.

Also note: There's no point putting more than 4 gig in if you only have Windows 32 bit.

If new processor supports your old motherboard then you will upgrade system with your old motherboard.

If its not supported to new mother board then you have to buy new motherboard to upgrade your system.

What is DDR2 graphic cards ? help

Let's make this clear, There are many factors that contribute to a videocard's performance. The BUS which is the connection from the card itself to the Motherboard , though not the most important, is one of them.
PCI is extremely slow compared to PCI express and a videocard with PCI bus suffers from a strong bottleneck that makes it quite unsuitable for 3D graphics.
a PCI card is good as second display adapter to connect extra monitors to your pc: handy feature for data monitoring and multitasking but not that much as a gaming card.
Your motherboard does not have an AGP slot, but also has an Intel integrated graphic chip, so a PCI Nvidia 9400 will be quite a big upgrade, but don't expect high gaming performance...
furthermore Graphic memory speed has a big impact on performance, but size does not.512MB DDR2 is a big but slow memory and 1GB I can say it's totally useless, you need to use a resolution way over full HD to take advantage of it, but a PCI card performs really bad on that.
