First clean the vent in the machine and the wall. Try the machine one time not connected to the wall, see if it works better. Carefully tighten the wire connections at the breaker, including the white. It is possible for a breaker to get weak. Your motor may be wearing out.

Kenmore 80 series dryer keeps tripping breaker after it runs for 5-10 minutes

First, see if you get the same result when you run the machine on "Air-Fluff." If you don't pop the breaker on Air -Fluff you know the problem is originating in the heat circuit, get inside the machine and inspect the wiring for crispy/burned terminals and the heat element for damage or contact with the housing... If it does pop the breaker on Air-Fluff: Inspect the terminal block on the back of the unit where the power cord is bolted on (with the unit unplugged), look for any scorched spots- if that is clear, remove the outlet cover and inspect the wire connections on it for scorching (with the circuit break off). Can't be more specific without a model #!

After starting the dryer it runs for about 10 seconds and then the circuit breaker trips. I am thinking the heating element is bad and is causing the current surge and subsequent trip. How can I verify...

There are several ways. One way is to turn your dryer to air fluff or no heat and see if it trips the breaker. Another way is to physically examine the element. Unplug the dryer before attempting to service. If this does not cure your problem please comment me so I can assist further.

BREAKER TRIP AFTER 8 MINS .WORKED ONLY ON PERMANENT PRESS FOR A YR NORMAL ..WOULD TRIP BREAKER ON LOW AND HEAVY SETTING AFTER 5 MINS CYCLE.

This problem might be in your house electrical system rather than the dryer but it will take some troubleshooting to figure it out.
1. First make sure that you are connected to a 30 amp circuit breaker. If not then that is the problem!
2. Use a clamp on amp meter to see what the dryer is drawing from your electrical panel before it trips. If it is below the rating of the 30 amp circuit breaker when it trips, then your circuit breaker is defective.
3. If the dryer is drawing more than 30 amps it is in your machine and you will need to troubshoot that. Since you stated the times - is it always the same and does not vary? Then you have to figure out what you dryer is doing at the 8 minute mark and each machine is a little different. Soem machines go into a tumble air only mode for the first few minutes before kicking on the heating elecment. If yours is that was then it is the heating element, thermostat or something to do with the heating circuit.

Kenmore elite dryer runs for about 3 min. then trips the breakers

The circuit breaker may be tripping because of a fault with the dryer or it may be a fault with the circuit breaker being weak.

From the description you give the circuit breakers trip frequently.

I'd suggest you first try selecting the no heat air fluff cycle and run it to see if the breaker trips. If the circuit breaker doesn't trip in air fluff then there is likely a short in the heating element.

With a clamp-on amp meter you can read the amp draw of the dryer when it is heating. With the motor and element both working you would see approximately 25-26 amperes being drawn. The breaker is rated at 30 amps. If the breaker trips and only 26 amps are being drawn then the breaker is the problem.

Try the air fluff cycle first and see if the breaker will trip. Then with additional details I may be able to help you further.

Hi, my dryer runs for about 5 min. then it pops the circut breaker. never did this before.

You either have an exposed wire shorting out in the dryer or the breaker itself is weak.

Try running it on air only or low heat to see if it still trips in the same amount of time. Also if the unit heats up on air only setting you have a grounded element.
Depending on the type of heating element you have, sometimes they loosen up, as it heats up it sags and touches the case/chassis tripping the breaker.

The above is not 100% because if you have a loose wire you could be removing power to this part of the circuit when you switch to low heat.
If it is the element often you can see the burn mark on the case.

The dryer has no heat

Hi,
Make sure front of dryer is not blocked, air flow is needed to dry.Check the lint filter and exhaust duct is clean.

Select the heat setting other than Air Fluff.

Check the blown fuses and home’s circuit breaker tripped. Dryer use 2 household Fuses or a circuit breakers, If one is blown, the dryer may still operate but not heat. Alternatively, the dryer may heat, but it may not heat up as hot as it should. Replace the Fuses or reset the circuit breaker.

Good Luck and have a nice day.
Rating the solution is highly appreciated.

Dryer trips breaker after 10 minutes using low or high heat

You need an ammeter to test the amperage that the dryer is drawing. The breaker could be failing rather than the dryer. Most AC ammeters use a clamp on type that you clamp onto one of the wires that connect to the circuit breaker. Clamp it on, start the dryer, and then watch the meter to see how many amps. If it is less than 30 amperes when the breaker trips, then replace the breaker. Otherwise, the element may be failing, replace that

If your circuit breaker(s) are tripping as soon as you turn on the dryer you have a dead short. Try the dryer set on fluff (or no heat). If it runs OK then, short is most likely in the heating element.
