Question about Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition

Locked out of a computer

My aunt has an older HP Pavilion with Windows XP Home Edition that she wants to access, but does not have any of the passwords on it, including the admin password. She does not want to remove the hard drive or boot from a disk. She also does not want to download any kind of software to get the password. Is there any way she can get the admin password? Does she need to boot it into safe mode? If so, then what? I really hope someone can help me out with this....

If you can boot into safe mode,(which should still need a password,so I don't think it will work)
But if you can,just go into the control panel and create a new account with admin privileges,restart in to the new account and transfer all files from old account,then delete the old account.

The only way to get the password is to boot from cd and preform a repair of windows and when it says installing devices you need to hit "shift" + F10 it will bring up command window and then you will type "type NUSRMGR.CPL " (leave quotes off) once there you should be able to access the user manager and change password providing it has windows xp as you say

THIS IS THE ONLY WAY!!!! short of your aunt remembering the password

How to Reset HP Pavilion Password on Notebook Computer

kathli.jpg

Pavilion BIOS password reset is commonly needed. Today, we talk about HP Pavilion Windows password reset solutions. Our Windows OS users can set up administrator account and encrypt it with password to enter the OS. This actually prevents unauthorized users from operating on your system. While, if we Pavilion PC users forget the encrypted password and can't login Windows, now what to do for HP Pavilion password reset?

Firstly, if there are not important files on our HP Pavilion notebook, we can reinstall system by deleting all data and cleaning system. Most of us may hope opt for other ways to bypass the Pavilion login password.

Secondly, please think that is there still another account for us to enter Pavilion PC. In Windows XP, Vista, there is HP Pavilion default administrator which has blank password. For Windows 7, the built-in administrator account is disable defaulted. Only if we set it as enable, the account can be used at the moment.
Take HP Pavilion Windows XP password reset from Safe Mode as example:
a. Press "F8" when Pavilion laptop starts.
b. At the "Advanced Boot Options" windows, choose "Safe Mode" with arrow key and Enter, then PC enters Safe Mode.
c. Click "Administrator" on the Windows login screen.
Note that if we have set this HP Pavilion administrator password, we need to input the password instead of leaving "Password" field blank.
d. Start - Control Panel - User Accounts.
e. Select the locked account and reset password for the locked account.
f. Restart Pavilion laptop and login with the account newly password reset.

Thirdly, the least troublesome solution on Pavilion password recovery is to opt for password reset program tool. With the program and a CD/DVD/USB disk, we can easily remove the password for locked computer. Take Windows Password Recovery Corporation as example:
Step1. Burn .iso file to a CD/DVD/USB Flash Drive on an accessible PC;
Step2. Set locked computer to boot from CD/DVD/USB Flash Drive;
Step3. Recover forgotten Windows password with the burned CD/DVD/USB Flash Drive.

Certainly that the 3 ways can make sure we reset Pavilion password finally. The Windows Password Recovery Corporation can be used for Windows 7, XP, Vista, and Windows Server 2003, 2008 domain password, etc.

The disk itself may be corrupt , go to microsoft and download xp home or pro , whatever your using and burn to a disk .If you don't have access to another computer , go to a repair shop and you can usually buy a burn't copy of xp for 5 to 10 dollars . RE-install as usual. please note !!! you must know what service pack is needed for the install . SP1 - SP2 ....OR to be on the safe side just get XP SP1. good luck!

Hp pavilion a1200y with windows xp home

Hmm,
It seems that you might either have a problem with your hard drive or you might have a huge Trojan that is not allowing you too sign on. If you cannot go to your desktop, you might have to get a new computer, if your finally able, try scanning it with a anti-virus.

Hope this helps,

Windows xp home edition reinstall

If you use his disk, that will be better, because if it is original HP disk, it should install all original drivers at all, however this may delete all files on the computer depending on the type of installation you do.

Installing an older version of XP home does not make a big difference , as windows will update the system using automatic updates. What must be done, is ensuring that all proper drivers are installed.

Check device manager, in control panel/system, and see if all devices are installed with proper drivers.
