You can try using safe mode by tapping F8 as the computer turns on. You may see another signon you can use and then reset the password for the problem account. Be careful as there has also been a nasty virus around that blocks the account. 1. download microsoft security essentials install that (its a free antivirus from microsoft) run it and remove viruses. After that download and install malwarebytes anti malware free version. Run that to get rid of the rest of the junk. To reset computer to factory insert the operating system disc and reinstall everything. You can use a HP recovery disc for your model computer which will return the computer to out of the box condition. You may need to purchase this disc from the HP WEB site.

Be sure to do a clean driver download. Turn off and unplug your printer

Check your control panel to make sure there is no left over installation there. if so delete it.

Go to toolbar>tools>inteeeeeeernet options>general tab> and delete all your cookies, temp internet files, etc.

Turn off all running programs in the lower right corner including your virus control.

Download the driver and save it to your desktop. Double click to install. When it is finished, if it has not instucted you to plug your printer back in do it now. Restart your computer and turn on your printer.

Had this same problem. Went to Microsoft Office site and downloaded Service Pack 3 for Word 2000 and Security update #KB934392 and the printer started printing on the correct side again.
