Question about Panasonic Palmcorder PV-GS15 Mini DV Digital Camcorder

1 Answer

Can the battery charger be connected to the camera for power?

I have a Panasonic Palmcorder IQ PV-IQ403. I would like to connect the camcorder directly to my house AC outlet. I have a cord with connectors (that are the type I have on my cell phone charger) on both ends. Do I connect one end of the cord to the battery DC IN 6V hole in the battery compartment and the other end to the VCR DC OUT hole on the battery charger called a Video AC Adaptor (PV-A16) (all the holes say SEE MANUAL) I do not have a manual. I don't want to ruin the camera or charger. So, I need some expert advice.

Also my camera has a remote (VSQS1200). It is stored in a slot near the VHS-C door, and I can get it out with the remote eject button . How do I replace the battery? I cannot find out how to open the thin battery door. There is a tiny movable tab, but nothing happens. I think that the coin battery is probably corroded. Help me find out how to get the tiny slider door open without breaking anything.

I waited and waited for help. None came. So, I just tried connecting the cord to the camera and the battery charger. It worked and gave power to the camera. It did not explode. I could not find a manual on any of the many websites. I think that the camera I bought (Panasonic Palmcorder IQ PV-IQ403) doesn't exist in the available manuals.

The following information might be useful to others. The camera cassette door will not open without having the power on to the camera. The camera connects to a TV with RCA cords.

The camera power switch has 2 settings. Use the camera setting to use the camera to record and see what you are recording displayed on the TV. You must change the power switch to the VCR setting in order to play back the recording and see it on the TV. Change the switch back again to use the camera. (You can also see the playback through the viewfinder.)

My camera has a remote control which is stored in a slot. I found that the battery is in a tiny sliding door. I had to use a screwdriver to gently dislodge it from the case, my fingernail was not strong enough. The movable tab had to be pushed inward to release the catch. The coin battery was not corroded. (CR-2025)

In order to play the VHS-C tape, you must have a VHS PlayPak. The cassette door will not open unless you have a battery loaded into it. When the door opens, you can insert the VHS-C tape into the opening. The VHS PlayPak holder is the same size as a regular VHS tape. It can be found on-line.

Best bet to deal with the battery replacement is to download the manual from panasonic and follow their guides, they usually instruct you on how to install the button batt ery at initial start up as this is what holds the date/time in memory when you are charging the main operating battery. go to the following link and enter your specific camcorder info: http://service.us.panasonic.com/operman/

regarding the power supply. You need 6 volt DC. but you need to know the polarity of the line feeding into the camera and match that from your power source, if you have the polarity backwards, you can ruin the camera. You can also cause problems if your external supply has too high of an Amperage rating as an excessive amperage can overheat your camera circuits. verify the amp rating of the camera and verify that the VCR dores not exceed that my more than a few amps.

I have a PV-IQ404 Panasonic Palmcorder that the power pack has been lost from. Can this be replaced?

By power pack do you mean the actual battery or the charger unit that plugs into the wall to charge or power your Palmcorder? Either way, bot are available on Ebay as universal units and you should make sure the charger or battery pack is for or a 6 volt capacity. Many chargers for these Palmcorders are labeled as VHS-C / 8MM, that should work with your camera. Universal battery packs are made reversable, meaning that you can flip the battery to accomodate several other camcorder models. I've replaced my batteries and charger for my Panasonic Palmcorder from Ebay.

The power on the Panasonic Palmcorder IQ PV-A206 turns itself off. I've tried plugging directly and with a fully charged battery, no luck.

please make this test and fix it. God bless you

If the video camera doesn't work, make sure the battery is charged (see The Battery Recharger Fix-It Guide) or replace a battery that won't hold a charge. Make sure the AC adapter is connected properly. Clean any dirty contacts on the battery, charger, and AC adapter with a cotton swab dipped in denatured alcohol. Remove corrosion with a clean pencil eraser, then wipe the area with an artist's brush to remove any debris. Find and test the fuse, if any.
If the power goes off soon after starting, recharge a low battery. Also, turn the video camera power off, then turn it back on and eject the tape. If the problem persists, check the fuse
If the battery won't charge, clean the contacts and fully discharge the battery, then recharge it. If the problem persists, replace the battery

If the video camera works intermittently, remove and reseat the to establish good contact. If necessary replace the fuse

I had the same problem. I hope you have a battery charger. The many older batteries I have needed charging, but they wouldn't hold a charge when I tried to charge them with the battery charger. My batteries were the kind that had a memory, and I guess that the battery memories are dead. So, I saw that I had a double ended power cord that came with my camera. I took the battery out of the camera and saw a power-in hole. I just tried connecting the double ended power cord to the camera and to a power hole I found on the battery charger. It worked and gave power to the camera. It did not explode. I could not find a manual on any of the many websites. I think that the camera I bought (Panasonic Palmcorder IQ PV-IQ403) doesn't exist in the available manuals. Maybe you can find a double ended power cord and a battery charger on line or in a store.

The following information might be useful to others. The camera cassette door will not open without having the power on to the camera. The camera connects to a TV with RCA cords.

My camera power switch has 2 settings. Use the camera setting to use the camera to record and see what you are recording displayed on the TV. You must change the power switch to the VCR setting in order to play back the recording and see it on the TV. Change the switch back again to use the camera. (You can also see the playback through the viewfinder.)

In order to play a VHS-C tape, you must have a VHS PlayPak. The cassette door will not open unless you have a battery loaded into the cassette. When the door opens, you can insert the VHS-C tape into the opening. The VHS PlayPak holder is the same size as a regular VHS tape. It can be found on-line.

How do I connect my Panasonic PV-L353 palmcoreder to my computer

You don't give enough details. More details would help.

I have a Panasonic IQ PV-IQ403 old palmcorder. I know how to connect it to a TV screen. I am not sure how a camcorder would connect to a computer. Maybe this information can be of help to you. I have separate flap door covering my RCA connections on my camera, located near the battery compartment. I just plug one end of the RCA cord into those connectors and the other end into the RCA connectors on my TV. I have to change the power switch on my camera over to the VCR position (take it off of the camera position). The TV has to be on channel 3 (or 4). I push play on my camera, and I can see what I have recorded on my TV screen.
This might work on your computer monitor. I am not an expert, but this information may be helpful.

Hello

You can call this telephone number for the Panasonic parts sales 1-800-332-5368. Tell them the brand name and model number of the palmcorder. Ask them if they sell the connecting cable for the a/c line connector (Part numbers PV-A19 & PV-A20) to the palmcorder. You may have to purchase the complete a/c package. If so you can put the brand name and model number of the palmcorder and the above part numbers into your search engine and find alternative places to buy the a/c connector. I hope this information helps you with your problem.
