How are you "modifying" the GameCube? Also, I don't think that you should modify it, I mean, isn't there a warning on it saying "not to modify or replace parts"?

My game cube is telling me to turn off power and refer to the nintendo gamecube instruction booklet

Either a problem with your disk (Scratched up, damaged) or you Laser Lens is dirty or failing. You could check your disks and get them buffed if it is just one or 2. You could clean your laser lens with you alcohol. But if this does not work you may have to replace the laser unit in you Gamecube.

It dont wont to read the disc

Well i just went to put in Sonic hereos and tried my other gamecube games and no scratched discs and the discs look to be fine so the laser needs to be replaced or is a weak laser then. But the wii is fine so my gamecube might have internal problems then.

The game counsel will not read the gamecube games

The laser in the drive is out. You would need to send it in for repair or go into the gamecube yourself and replace it. Let me know what route and I can point you where to get it fixed or get the parts

Is it possible to play Wii games on the Gamecube simply by changing the disc reader and graphics card?

I don't think so. The Gamecube disk tray is specialized for Gamecube discs, which are pretty small compared to regular game discs. Also, the Nintendo Gamecube graphics are modeled by ATI. Maybe some hardcore modding to your Gamecube, and it could work, but I have no idea for sure. Im not sure anyone had ever accomplished this, so honestly, you're going to know what you're doing to accomplish this. I know I wouldn't.

My disc reader motor wont spin. it refuses to read the disc

Hi,the unit needs to have the laser reader lens cleaned but DONT use regular rubbing alcohol.
Get pure stuff....the rubbing type leaves a glare on glass and plastic lenses.
Also ,the chrome rails that the laser moves along need to be cleaned and lubed with liquid silicone.
This method clears read problems most of the time.

when a disk reader refuses to spin, sometimes it might be from the motor mechanism that allows it to spin when you insert a disk inside the disk reader is damaged that's might be the reason it does not spin.

You can check both the lens and the mechanism to be such which needs to be replaced.

Take care.

My gamecube does not spin the discs that i put into it and does not read them. Is there something i can do to fix this without having to buy a new one?

One time I ccidently touched the lens in my 10 year old gamecube so now the lens and the laser dont read the discs anymore because it is knocked out of anglement so you could buy a new gamecube now or buy a wii because wii's can still play gamecube disc's too.

Gamecube won't read cd, but spins

Get some 91% isopropyl alcohol {Walgreens, walmart sells this}. Dip a QTip in it, dab it onto a paper towel to remove excess alcohol, and clean the gamecube laser lens with the qtip. Dry it off with the other end and you should be good.

If this does not fix it, your gamecube laser is shot. The gamecubes are so cheap now [$29.95 refurb] that it's not worth trying to fix it if the laser is bad.

My game disc said it wont read disk plz help ?

try different games in your gamecube and see if it can read any of the other games. If your gamecube isn't reading any games then you know it might be a laser problem. In that case go ahead and take a damp q-tip with glass cleaner and wipe off the laser with it. This will make sure that dust or dirt is not on the laser. If you do this and the gamecube is still not reading games then you know that athe laser is bad and needs to be replaced.

If you can get other games to read but mario sunshine then wipe off the disk on both sides top and bottom making sure that there is no smudges on either side then try having the gamecube read it again. If it doesn't read it still then you know that the game is bad and you would need to get another one.

My gamecube problems.

If the disc does not spin or spins strangely, it is almost always because the gamecube is having problems reading the disc, and not a problem with the motor. The laser can be adjusted to a higher power, but you will need several special tools to do so. You should be able to find a guide by googling for gamecube laser adjust. If that doesn't solve the problem, you either need to replace the laser or the laser control board.
