Shower drains are all designed to be opened and cleaned, usually hair builds up, if there is a visible screw remove it and lift the drain cover, if you can get fingers under the cover try lifting it off to clean it. If its stiff and its made of plastic do not use metal tools to lift it. Instead pass a trouser belt under both sides and use this to pull it up, then clean it.

Does body wash clogg up shower drains?

Body wash is water soluble, so if you run some hot water it should dissolve and go down the drain. The more likely cause of clogged shower drains is hair caught either in the drain or the trap downstream from the drain. Try some liquid plumber and a small diameter drain snake. If that doesn't clear it, call the plumber

Shower in basement is backed up. Wondering if it's because a floor drain is covered up.

sounds more like the drain line is clogged between the shower and the main stack, and shares venting and drain with your kitchen sink. Have a plumber run a drain snake down from your kitchen drain (after the 'P' trap ) to clear the line. A covered over floor drain should have no effect on the back-up.

My shower drain was running slow during a shower, and when i stepped out i realized that the toilet was leaking from the bottom -screw under cap on left side. i am at a loss and do not even know where to...

You can try using rock salt and boiling hot water down your drains. That will help if you have roots getting into your line. Chemicals are not very good for your pipes. If you have PVC drains the chemicals can eat a hole in the pipe because most of them have acid in them. They are also bad for your health (breathing in fumes, getting on skin, etc.) If the line is broken down, has a break in it, it will need to be repaired.

Yes water can back up in a drain and flood out lowest opening, which would be a toilet flange at floor level.
If tub is draining fine, then clog is probably near the toilet, but below floor flange level, and therefore not inside the tank ... judging from your description.
If you are in a house, go outside and see if there is a vent stack on the roof directly above toilet. If so, you can run a snake down from there.
You can also run a snake down through "s" shaped toilet trap and enter the pipe that way.
Another option is to remove the toilet and run snake directly down hole, and then reattach toilet.

I have a large whirlpool tub in MB on 1st floor. When letting water out of tub it is coming up in a large walk-in shower. The shower is draining fine...need answer! thanks

sounds like there may be some blockage in pipes. try to run a long snake through both drains or run all fixtures in bathroom and try plunging vigorously in tub and shower while running water. if nothing still, it may be possible that your underground plumbing is back graded or incorrect fittings and plumbing installation.

SUPER clogged drains

About all you could do is rent an electric snake and clear the main drain. The shower drain line (if you follow it) may also have a port to use a snake.

Good luck!
