Question about Toshiba D-R5 DVD Recorder
My DVD has recently started freezing at around the one hour mark for all of the DVDs I have tried recently. When I eject the disc to see if there are any scratches or anything, they look fine but are warm. Is this a matter of the DVD overheating, a lens motor issue. Any suggestions? I have watched a movie then stopped it so that the player stays on, and will resume when I want to watch again but still can't get past the trouble point. I have resulted to watching the last portion of movies on my laptop (which plays the discs without any problems) ... but that is getting old real quick. This is my second Toshiba and haven't had any problems with either until now. Please let me know what I can try, or if this is a common problem etc. Thank you in advance for your help.
You Need to go to walmart buy you a disk cleaner kit the wipes not the Machine. Wipe each disk you put in and try to make it threw all of them, Most important Go to Radio Shack or The Shack and purchase yourself a CD/DVD Laser cleaner it is just like a DVD with cleaners on the one side. You just put it in the machine and follow the steps.Remember to rate my solution and give testimonial it is how i earn my achievements Thanks in advance.

I had the same problem and contactd Toshiba. They suggested I reset the unit by unplugging for at least 3 minutes. It worked. Good luck.

It is a mechanical problem believe it or not. The grease on the rails that the laser rides on is not doing it's job. Clean off old grease & reapply white lithimuim (hope I spelled it right). I have fixed computer dvd-cd, stereo, cd players & dvd players with this method.
