Dehumidifier goes off after winter break

I had my unit turned off for the winter. Last year and this year when I turn it on for the firlst time it goes on for 3 seconds and goes off. I cannot get it to go on again. Last year I brought it to service and they chrged me $93.00. I DO NOT want to put another$ 93.00 into it. Now I think they ripped me off and maybe it is not a problem at all. Maybe I am doing soemthing wrong.

There are two reasons that it should turn off. Either the humidity level is at the setting off the humidistat control switch or the bucket is full. The only other thing I can think of is that the motor is overheating.

Hello, why does my dehumidifier goes on and off every 4 minutes, last year was working fine, started the machine last week ans now it goes on and off, thanks

Serge,
Most dehumidifiers work on a thermostat, and yours probably got turned down. You might look on the top and see if there are any knobs and try to adjust it that way.

You may have the humidity/moisture level set to high. Try lowering it to 35%. Or if you don't have a LED Screen on your unit, turn it to maximum.

In addition, most dehumidifiers don't work well if the air temperature is between 40 & 60 degrees F. Keep in mind, the temperature at floor level in a basement is colder that the air temperature at chest high level. Raising the unit up, off the floor on something sturdy enough to handle the weight (with a full tank of water) and the vibration, may help.

Hope this helps you to troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks.

My dehumidifier says the bucket is full, when it is empty. the red light flashes and it beeps. I can't get any buttons to work. I have taken the bucket in and out several times. Any suggestions? It did...

First, the unit may need to be cleaned and after that, unit may need to be reset. Turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to OFF and unplug the unit for 12-15 minutes. Then plug it back in and turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to ON. Set the controls as you normally do. Hopefully, that 12 - 15 minute timeout, allowed the electronics to reset themselves. If this continues to occur frequently, contact an authorized Frigidaire Service Center

Hope this helps you troubleshoot and solve the problem.

My DeLonghi dehumidifier model DE500P is tripping the breake

the motor is tight, (can't turn) lubricate the motor bearings with light machine oil. retest. rust causes this. the motor "tries" to turn, more power is needed, still can't turn, power exceeds safe limits: breaker trips.

Dehumidifier doesn't draw in water (humidity).

It may be too cool in the basement for it to work. Mine doesn't work if its 67 or below. Take it upstairs and see if it works there, where it is warmer.

No manuel, do not know how to work

Hi Journeay,
The dehumidifier is telling you the humidity in your house is 45-50 % so it will not run until the dehum thinks it is over 60%. When you set a humidity it will show the setting then it will tell you the humidity in the house. Sometimes they are wrong, and somtimes the humidistat goes bad. I would suggest setting the dehumidifier lower than the 45-50 and see if it comes on. This time of year the humidity is usually low depending on your location. I have already put mine away for the winter. Please let me know if you have any other questions and I really hope this will fixYa. If not just let me know.

Dehumidifier

After reading comments and complaints from other frustrated Maytag owners, I just went out and bought a new LG EnergyStar dehumidifier. I'm taping the receipt inside a plastic bag, along with the user manual, to the side of the machine. Hope this one works for a LONG time! Ronnisue

It is more than likely the compressor is not running, only the fan.
It seams that the humidity sensor is flaky on these units. You can,
operate the unit, by opening up the dehumidifier and unplug the sensor from the main board. The unit will cycle on and off and remove the water from the air.....good luck
