I was able to play the DVD with both sounds and picture but a friend tried to help with other sound problems with the system and now I can hear the DVD when playing but I see no picture. I have the input from the TV set to get input from the DVD so that is not the problem. I have had the bose lifestyle 18 system for 3 years. It worked perfectly until recently (no changes to unit or cabling). A few minutes (5 to 15) into a DVD (we have tried this repeatedly on several occasions) the picture goes out leaving us with just the sound. Any attempt to restart from that point on just gives us sound.I have had the bose lifestyle 18 system for 3 years. It worked perfectly until recently (no changes to unit or cabling). Had system a few years. Worked great until one day I couldn't get a picture. I had it hooked to the composit output. I've tried the s-video output with no success. The component output did work, but unfortunately the TV I'm using in this room doesn't have a component input.Had system a few years. Worked great until one day I couldn't get a picture. You can't post conmments that contain an email address.
What type of output are you using? Try using the component video output on the DVD player. (that's the one with three colors) This worked for me when the composit and s-video outputs stoped working.

I can think of two issues.
1. It can be that the optical head is weak and so is not scanning- check with original DVD to confirm.
2, It can be due to friction of the drive, the speed of the spindle motor can cause this issue. Also check if the height of the spindle is the correct alignment to the optical unit.
heres a suggestion go back to xp service pack 2. service pack is very easy to use and more compatibility than sp3. right now my 10 pc's are all xp sp2 and they have no problems about the sound.hope that helps
Sounds like the remote control isn't working. Getting support for Durabrand portable DVD players is impossible. The company that manufactured them for Wal Mart went out of business last November. I've heard that Wal Mart is replacing them with a unit of equal or lesser value.
There's a blog on Rip Off Report.com about it.
i don't think thats possible. what you are hearing is the 'mixed' track.
to hear the unmixed tracks (there may be 2 or 3 in all) you wld have to play the dvd using an editing software on a computer where all the audio tracks can be seen separately and one or some or all can be turned off / turned down, etc.
