Cannot get the computer to boot up. The power button flashes
along with the internet connection at the rear. Pressing or holding the button
gets no response. I unplugged the power cord and internet connection overnight
and it booted up this morning. Turned it off and it will not boot up and
displays the same symptoms as last night. We cleaned the memory connector pins,
but that did not help. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Try removing all the memory from the motherboard, then place a single stick of memory in the very first memory slot and see if it boots.
If the system then boots , add each memory stick that you removed back one at a time to determine which one is faulty.

Everex ga3400 wont boot just beeps

WARNING: Before you start troubleshooting remember that you are dealing with electricity that can KILL. http://www.kitchentablecomputers.com/static.php - rules Remove added memory If you've recently added or tried to add additional memory to the computer and have started getting these beeps. Remove all new memory you've added to the computer. If the computer works fine after removing the new memory you're encountering either an incompatibility or defective new memory. Open computer and reseat memory Sometimes when the computer is moved or over time a memory stick can become loose causing the computer to be unable to read the memory or get errors as it's reading it. Try fixing this issue by opening the computer removing each of the memory sticks you have in the computer and then placing them back into the computer. Swap memory location If reseating the memory did not resolve the issue try swapping the location of the memory. If you have only one stick of memory in the computer try moving it to another slot and then boot the computer. If you have more than one stick of memory try removing all but one stick of memory and boot the computer. Remove the memory modules from their slots. Take the opportunity to clean the slots on the motherboards and the memory module connectors. Use compressed air to blow dust away and clean contacts with a soft cloth. Do not use a metallic vacuum cleaner if it touches any component it may create a short and cause damage to the motherboard or other components. Do not use solvent that may attract dust and never poke things like cotton buds in to slots. lightly rub an alcohol (Methylated Spirits) on a cloth not to hard let the alcohol do the work on the copper gold or silver tabs and r Allow the pins to dry. They will air dry in a matter of minutes If this does not resolve the issue try removing that stick of memory and try one of the other sticks of memory. Try another computers memory If you have access to another computer that uses the same memory, try using its known good memory in your computer. If another computers memory works you know that you have bad memory. If another computers memory does not work and it is compatible with your computer unfortunately your motherboard or the slots on the motherboard are defective causing it to be unable to properly read the memory, which means the motherboard will have to be replaced. Replace memory If it is determined the memory in the computer is bad we suggest that you replace it if you're not sure if a module is right for your system, use the Crucial Memory Advisor tool for a list of guaranteed compatible modules. First you will need to select the manufacturer from a drop down list then select your product line from a drop down list then select the model then click find it will take you directly to compatible ram also you will have an option to scan your system You should always ask for a guarantee on the compatibility before making any purchase and try to buy for working pairs if possible

have you try to check your vag cable connector?. It is located from the monitor going to the cpu. Or try to open your side panel and detach the memory card then clean it by the use of eraser on the pins the brush a paint brush on the memory slot then re-insert the memory card. (Take note be carefull to insert the memory on a proper way, it might burnt the card once you have wrongly insert it.) Hope it helps. THanks

On boot up I get 4 short beeps what is the computer telling me.

That's your cell phone.

JUST KIDDING!

The beeps are BIOS Beep Codes.
4 short beeps means the same thing as 2 short beeps.

Problem with the Ram Memory.

Computer off, and unplugged from power - Desktop
Computer off, and all power removed. Remove the AC adapter (Charger) and Battery - Laptop

Suggest you remove all Ram Memory modules, and clean the gold plated contact pins on the bottom, with a pencil eraser.
If you are not using a solid eraser, and are using an eraser on the end of a pencil, refrain from letting the metal band contact the contact pins.

Rub the eraser up, and down on Each contact pin. Both sides.
Use air to remove the eraser dust.
You can use a can of compressed air for computers if available, or air pressure from your mouth will be sufficient.

Don't worry if you cannot see that you have cleaned the surfaces of the contact pins.
Using the eraser I assure you that the eraser will clean them.

The gold plated contact pins develop corrosion on them after a period of time.
Doesn't take much corrosion to make a bad contact surface.

Reinstall the Ram memory module/s.
Close the computer case, or reinstall the Memory Compartment Cover.

Plug the desktop computer back into power, WAIT 20 seconds, turn it on.

Reinstall the Battery into the laptop, plug the AC adapter back in.
WAIT 20 seconds, turn the laptop on.

joecoolvette

Thanks for assisting me. I cleaned the memory sticks. That did not help. However, I unplugged the 4 pin Power Supply connector to the mother board and started the computer. It works. The fan spins...

Hi!
From what you mentioned, there is a short in the motherboard and or one of the fans are overheating causing the system to shuts off.

You can check which fans is overheating and needs to be replaced. Disconnect all your fans (exhaust, blower) including the fan of the processor. One by one connect the fan and restart the system, until you find which one causing it.

Need2 know wiring diagram 4 power supply 4 a emachine T2642

Hi there
The power supply should be ATX 20pin connection and also a 4pin connector, look at this picture below so you know you have the power connections in the right places>>ba37bd3.jpg
On the top left of the picture, the big cream 20pin socket is where the 20 pin connector goes.
In the middle to the left you will see another cream 4pin socket is where the 4pin connector goes.
If your power supply does not have the 4pin connector the pc won't boot up, you will have to go out and buy one.
If you have all the connections right and the on/off button is connected to the front panel properly, take out the system memory, clean it with a clean, dry, soft pain brush and also clean the slots too, re-seat the memory and reboot the machine to see if it boots up.

Good luck and thanks for using Fixya!!!
