SOURCE: colour problem on rear projection tv

This might be something really simple... In a large number of DPTV310 chassis, of which this TV is, the yoke connections where put in place with black electrical tape just below the retaining rings. Job is to loosen the rings, remove the tape and push the yoke back in place and tighten down retainer.. Be careful not to throw off the tilt of the yoke. The adhesive on the tape, over time, gets hot so many time it becomes slippery and allows the yoke to fall away from it's position dulling the look of the image (or focal length) causing the problem you're describing here... It also throws off the convergence - so in attempting to converge it just looks worse. Good Luck Bill

SOURCE: color spots on panasonic projection screen

The light engine may be dirty with dust, the polarizer filter burned, or the LCD elements burned.

As a last-ditch effort, the light engine can be taken apart and carefully cleaned using compressed air.

SOURCE: I have a rear projection panasonic 51" tv with blue curved lines

This can be repaired by a Degaussing coil from most TV repair places. If you haven't already you should shut down the TV and wait till it cools maybe 1 hour or so and then when you turn it on there should be a degaussing circut that might clear this up for you build into the set. Its not that strong a signal and usually takes care of minor discolorations. If it doesn't have that then a shop can come and take care of it pretty fast usually.

Hi, I have a Panasonic TX-56P800H rear projection

Hi John,

I've checked my collection of Panasonic Service manual to verify the location of the parts you've mentioned but I don't have a copy of this model yet. Only www.manualzone.com have the service manual and schematic diagram.
Most of the arching are came from the high voltage's leakage from flyback transformer and/or in the ballast board high voltage transformer. If it is originated near to the said transformers, high chance that the arching is not came from the resistor itself but on the transformer. If this is the case, the only solution is to replace the flyback or the entire ballast board. Please make some necessary safety precaution handling this kind of symptoms because it is a high voltage leakage that can cause injuries with simple mistake only. You can pinpoint where the exact origin of the leakage/arching by powering on the unit in the dark room, you can easily see where the arc came from in the dark.
Please let me know if you need further assistance.
Have a nice day!
Best Regards,
Jdvillanueva

It appears that your light engine is broken, I have the same problem. Have you recently changed the bulb with a non-panasonic part bought on the internet. I did this and think thats what caused the problem. I believe the new bulb burn at a higher temp thus causing damage to the Light engine filters
