Question about Sony KV-36FS16 36" TV

1 Answer

Screen tinted red

Screen slightly darkened and tinted with red. Started out as an intermittent problem but has become solid.Tried adjusting Video Mode controls including resetting each Picture Mode to its default values. No help. I need to know whether it is worth repairing or should I relegate it to a boat anchor.

Samsung Syncmaster 753S Problem Intermittent darkening of screen . Sometimes white horizontal streaks along with characters on screen. On opening cover and slightly tapping video PCB solves problem ....

after 4 or 5 yrs EHT ( transformer that supplies voltage to CRT TUBE - MONITOR TUBE ) becomes weak - then 1 of the indication is ....picture becomes dull (less brightness & less contrast ) ........so solution is EHT ( also called as flyback transformer ) should be replaced....... {{ few details about EHT---- its size will be around 3inch X 2inch X 2inch ---it will have 2 or 3 knobs to adjust focus , brightness ------ at bottom around 10 pins will be there ------- from EHT 1 thick red colour cable goes to CRT TUBE --------- on EHT its part number will be there }} -------- so if user is a technical person having idea about components ( resistors, transistors, diodes, etc ) , having tools like multimeter ( to check components) , soldering iron, soldering lead, flux, desoldering wig ( for removing components), etc also little experience in servicing field( compulsory) ----------------- then user can remove EHT from main board ---- take to electronic shop ----- buy same type EHT --------- fix to mainboard ( knobs on EHT should be adjusted according to picture --- after switching monitor --- this adjustment is very important ) ----------iam from bangalore (09986222774, sathyavijayasarathibabu@ymail.com) ----- here EHT's price will be around Rs 250 ( US $ 6 ) & for my customers (in bangalore) i will take another Rs 500 (US $ 11) as sevice charge......i don't have any idea about EHT ' s price & service charge in your place.........since it is very risky job i suggest to contact monitor service engineer ------- because they are highly experienced & can fix this component very easily..

Mitsubishi tv problem

im assumiong you checked the tint in the menu options. if not go check it. other wise it sounds like you have a weak tube, or you do not know how to adjust the screen brightness. this is how i adjust the brightness (you dont need to touch the focus). turn the red up until your whole screen is tinted red, then do the same with the blue and the green. then go through each one and turn down just a little till your pic darkens a little. good luck

BLOTCHES ON SCREEN

This may not be the problem, but the following service bulletin may be of interest:

Last Update: 1/25/2006
Document Reference/Event ID: E30094243
Model: KDSR50XBR1, KDSR60XBR1
Subject: Picture might have a slight Greenish tint.

SYMPTOMS
Under certain conditions (especially cold/ first power ON), white areas of the picture may take on a slightly greenish tint after power on until internal temperature stabilization is achieved. Typically, this disappears after approximately 10 minutes operating time, however, in certain cases (i.e. colder conditions) the set will continue to fine tune the picture longer that 10 minutes. This is in order to create optimum picture performance under nominal viewing conditions.

This is not a defect but a characteristic of the LCD panels. Be assured that the time it takes to disappear will neither lengthen nor reduce over time.

If the condition improves but reduction in effect is desired, there are customer adjustments that can minimize this condition. Please demonstrate these adjustments with the customer, to determine if these settings are acceptable. (User adjustments are supplied in Solution A)

In cases where no Uniformity improvement is achieved (after 30 minutes power on time) proceed to Solution B; Optical block

Note:
Please be aware that all Optical Blocks exhibit warm-up behavior.
Replacing an Optical Block will not eliminate or significantly reduce the time below 10 minutes.

RESOLUTION

CAUSE:
Internal temperature stabilization needed.

Solution A)

You may reduce this effect by changing some user settings as follows:

(1) Change the Color Temperature setting to Cool - (refer to page 81-82 of the instruction manual). If further reduction is desired proceed to step 2.

(2) Slightly Reduce the Green bias (only available in PRO Picture mode under Advanced video settings), then select white balance Adjustment - (refer to page 81 of the instruction manual). Example:
a. Menu, Video, Picture Mode, Pro Mode
b. Menu, Video, Advance Video, White Balance, G-Bias (Reduce several steps)

Solution B)

Replace Optical block after gaining approval from Sony Tech. line.

Panasonic Rear Projection TV -dark picture

Javabean,
First off I think you meant Panasonic PT-51G44A which is an AP815 chassis. That unit has an all to common failure of the capacitor at C581 on the D board which is a 33uf/160v cap. Replace it and I think that will solve the problem..

Sanyo Tv color problem

I would check the green signal all the wat to the display screen to determine is this is a signal problem or a system short. I would recommend that you take this set to a qualified electronics technician
