Toshiba no go

My toshiba tecra 8000 has not been used for some time and now will not start up despite being powered from the mains, is it possible that the battery which was never very good has gone open circuit and caused this problem?

Try removing the battery and just using the wall power.

How do I switch from battery to power on my Toshiba Tecra 8000?

You do not have to switch from the battery to power as long as the powwr adapter is plugged intp the wall socket and the laptop. When the battery goes low it starts charging while running the laptop and when not charging it runs the laptop alone. I hope that relieves you of your worries?

The power was turned off. Now get a warning: system resume failure. What to do to restart?

When you get the resume failure message, push and hold the power button until the unit turns itself off (usually around 5 seconds). Once it is turned off, press the power button again to turn it on and it should boot right into windows for you.

My toshiba tecra 8000 will not power on

What you need to do to test this is the following:

1 - Check if its the battery : Remove the battery, plug in the laptop and try to power on the machine, if it powers on then your battery is dead and the system board is fine

2 - With the batter in and the laptop plugged in you should get a charging LED light up somewhere on the laptop, if you do not then the board is most likley gone.

If removing the battery and plugging the laptop in still fails to start the board of spin the fans and you hear no beeps, then the board is gone.

Hope this helps

When using ac adapter to my Tecra 8000 the power light is yellow

Try a new battery and if the new battery wont charge then its either going to be a bad ac adaptor or a bad motherboad. If the new battery charges then you'll know that the old battery went bad.

Toshiba Tecra 8000 keeps switching itself off.

I'd suggest removing the battery. Most laptops can run directly off the AC adapter. If it will boot up OK without the bad battery, you can either leave it like that, or buy a new battery.

If it won't boot, then you have problems other than the battery.
