Hi

Please check the things that could stop a gas dryer from heating:
- glow bar igniter, thermal fuse ( not all models ), coils on the gas valve, gas valve, thermostats, motor heat switch, timer, selector switch, sensor.

Please do accept the solution and revert for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

I have a Maytag dryer model DG412 that recently stopped heating. I replaced the igniter and it worked for a few minutes then stopped again. When I removed the igniter it broke into pieces.

Usually if it heats for few minutes then doesn't relight one of the coils has gone bad. They come as a pair as you know somake sure you replace both. You have done everything right so far... You do have bad coils though.

Lp gas dryer. sometimes when drying smells like butane lighter. venting is wright i think i followed manuel for correct length of venting.maytag dryer 8 years old. thank you

If you have recently painted or varnished something in your house the fumes could be the cause. They react to the heat in the dryer. Let the house air out for a few days.

KENMORE 80 SERIES GAS DRYER RUNS BUT DOES NOT HEAT

You have a defective gas valve solenoid. If you have an appliance repair center in you area, go to the parts dept, give them your exact model number and they should have the part you need in stock. The solenoid is easy to replace....you can do it yourself and save some money..

Good Luck,

My dryer will not heat up

You don't wan't to mess with this. Its probably something small like a defective thermopile, but repairs around the gas valve should be done by a professional. The thermocouple and photocells are safeties.

Dryer won't heat

Hello tfulton1963,
The fact that it worked for 3 days and then failed suggests that it is probably something else. You may have a non-resttable thermal fuse that opened or the gas valve itself isn't functioning. Can you see the glow of the igniter when it starts? Are you sure the burner is getting gas from the inlet valve?
These are the basic components to investigate.. Let me know the outcome of these checks and we can get you going again if none of these work.. Regards
