i have a soundblaster live (pci) on a windows xp pro computer. i have 4 cambridge soundworks speakers with a subwoofer attached to the sound card.
if i go to the control panel and into the sound and audio devices .. and click on advanced and set it to quadrophonic speakers (4 speakers) i get audio from all 4 speakers and the sub. but sometimes when i reboot i wind up back at 2 speakers again (or desktop stereo speakers) .. how can i get xp to default to the quad speakers? instead of dropping back to 2 speakers like that?
nope not muted. just set to 2 speakers. i've double clicked on the sound icon in the system tray (bottom right of the desktop, and also gone to the control panel -> sound and audio devices
nothing muted. but good suggestion.

Then go into the speaker surround mixer and switch them on from there a little bit of messing around and you wil get the rears to work, I had this crap with the audigy 2 card, Just because I was running 4.1 setup instead of 6.1 It turned the rears off and I ended up with just 2.1 Very annoying ! A buggy software issue I beleive so try to download all the latest updates and see what happens

Xp sometimes does that, Ignore it as you still work in quad mode, I have SB audigy and Xp finds quad speakers automatically so I assume its a software problem with lesser cards!
