To disconnect a box timer so it does not run or control the circuit, then remove wires from terminals.
If you simply want to override timer now and then, then remove trippers from timer dial. Then use manual override switch to set timer ON or OFF.
If you remove wires from terminals, and want circuit to operate, then as a general rule, you connect black wires together and connect white wire together. However you did not specify which timer you have and timers and circuits vary, so it would be wise to test the wires.

My Samsung CoolTech Model SR-L709EVSS fridge and freezer works for a few days and then goes off by its self and then works again. What could the problem be?

Only time these units completely shut down is when the defrost timer shuts down all power to the compressor and condenser/evaporator motors. Only the bulb works.
If that timer gets stuck somehow that would explain the complete shutdown and mysterious restart later .

Not shutting off

You don't indicate the model, but if it has a dial type timer and the unit is getting old, the dial timer motors have a tendency to weaken over time to the point where they just don't have the energy necessary to finish turning the timer any longer. The only fix at that point is either a new timer assembly (not cheap) or, and more preferably, a whole new dishwasher.

I have a maytag micro/hood combo that stopped working the other day when it was used. We thought the timer was set for 18 min, however the microwave was actually cooking the entire 18 min. The unit worked...

Try a hard rest of the electronics to restore unit to factory defaults. If that does not do it your logic board has failed and if not too expensive you might want to replace it. Check it out at site Search Over 2 1 Million Appliance Parts

My dryer keeps shutting off after a few 10 to 13 minutes...and clothes are not drying. An element was changed some time ago. it does heat up but keeps shutting down...is it the timer or element?

Turn the breaker to the dryer completely off and back on again. Also check that nothing is blocking the venting. Remove the vent hose and run the unit if you are not sure. Make sure the lint trap is cleaned first. It probably is neither element nor timer since it is heating and quits without the timer advancing completely.

After "resetting" the PRO-C I

Hi, well from what you describe, it actually seems ..well.. er.. normal? see a Timer, is a pretty dumb device essentially.
we have a device, that enumerates time, and by selecting start and stop times, the unit, will essentially, wait, until a time period has passed and perform an action, either going ON or OFF.
Now the Overall function is to start at the beginning, and step through the sequence, until the last one is performed, and then... it will "loop" back to the beginning, UNLESS there is an "Overseer" program that then completely stops, or inhibits the timer...
So really that's all a timer can do, and that is to cycle through the programming sequence, and unless commanded to Stop, at the end of said sequence, then all it can do, is go back to the start and begin the sequence again. It would do this until it was stopped, by some "External" action, IE: Someone turns the power OFF.
So I believe that indeed you are doing everything correctly..

If you want the timer to do it's task Once and wait until "Asked" to do it all again, you would need another timer, wired in series with the power INPUT, that "Times out" after say 12 - 24 hours, whatever.
This then will completely turn off the 2nd Timer, and stop the entire cycle.
So you would need a Master Timer, hooked up in series to your Slave Timer. The master controls the entire "Period" with the 2nd Timer controlling the interval inbetween, at the end of the inbetween period, the whole system is shut down, waiting to be activated again sometime in the future.

ICE MAKER DOES NOT CYCLE. NO WATER IN TRAY

I REPLACED THE ENTIRE ICE MAKER. THE PROBLEM WAS THAT THE TIMER WHEEL(GEAR) HAD SHEARED OFF . THE REPLACEMENT OF THAT UNIT COST ALMOST AS MUCH AS A COMPLETE UNIT. BY REPLACING THE ENTIRE UNIT, I PRECLUDED THE POSSIBILITY THAT THE SHEARED OFF SHAFT OF THE GEAR WAS CAUSED BY A JAMMING ELSEWHERE IN THE UNIT.
