Hey Guys, I have three LG Flatron 17" LCD Monitors, two of which have broken but successfully repaired.

The problem I had with both was loss of power. After turning the monitor off or leaving overnight the monitor was not turning on and no light was seen.

I opened up the monitor and saw that there were 3 capacitors that were blown, you can tell this by the bulged up top part of the capacitor. the good ones are flat on top.

the three capacitors I replaced were (2) 1000uF16v (1)680uF25v

although the electronics store i went to did not have the 680nF25v so I opted to try a 680uF50v which seems to work fine. each of these costs around a dollar. cheap fix!!

tools you need: soldering iron, solder, capacitors, Phillips head screwdriver.

For more information please feel free to contact me: Nickruocco@gmail.com
tell me your success stories!!

You can check every fuse on the car in 5 minutes, without even pulling the fuse out to inspect it. You just need a cheap test light, one with an electrical lead with a clip and a needle type probe.

On the tops of all fuses (maxi-fuses, regular fuses, & mini-fuses) are two indents with metal showing, one at each end of the top.
For the under hood fuses, clip the tester lead to the negative post of the battery. Touch the positive battery post with the probe to check your ground clip is good-tester should light up. Now turn the key to on, not start, and touch the tester probe to one end of a fuse in the little slot-it should light up-(almost) every fuse on the car will have power going through it with the key in on. Now you probe the other end of fuse: If fuse is good, tester will light on both ends of fuse. A blown fuse will only light the tester on one end of fuse. If both ends light, fuse is good, and move to next fuse.

For the fuses inside the car, just clip the tester lead to a good ground point-a metal screw or metal bracket under the dash. Again with key in on, touch a fuse end in that testing slot. If tester doesn't light,. check or reposition the ground lead till you see the tester light up. Now touch each fuse on both ends. A good fuse will light the tester on both ends of fuse, a blown fuse will only light tester on one end of the fuse. There, you are done. You not only have checked all fuses, you have verified that power is going through the fuse panel.

There may be one or two fuses that won't light the tester on either end with key on. Some cars have an interior lights fuse that only gets power with the head or park light switch turned on. And some cars have a "crank" fuse that only gets power when the key is in crank or start. (A fuse for the radio will certainly have power with key in on.) There are a few fuses that are hot at all times (like brake lights fuse, and most if not all of the maxi-fuses). But with key on, (almost) every fuse should show power and light up a test light. good luck.

The dome light, glovebox light, and cigarette lighter on my 1979 el camino have no power, and I believe they run off the same fuse. The lettering on the fuse box is gone, I don't have a manual and I can't...

Why not check every fuse in the fuse panel in 5 minutes or less, without pulling a single fuse out to inspect it? You can do it with a cheap test light, and even tell if the fuse panel is powered, too.

All fuses have two little test ports on the plastic top of the fuse, one at each end of the fuse. They can be used to tell if a fuse is good or blown. The little ports are open to the metal strip inside the fuse, the strip that snaps apart when the fuse blows.

Hook up a test light by clipping the ground lead to a metal bracket or a bolt or screw by the fuse panel. Turn the key to on, not start. Now every fuse in the fuse panel should be powered. Pick a fuse and touch the test light probe into the little test port on the fuse, either side. Test light should light. If not, either the ground clip for tester is not secure, or the fuse panel is not getting power to that fuse as it should with the key on, or you just happened to pick a blown fuse. Move tester probe to other end of fuse and see if power there. Keep on until your tester lights up when touching the little port on the fuse.
Got it? Okay, now with every fuse, you need to touch tester to both ends of fuse to verify a good fuse. Key is on, all fuses are powered up, so even a blown fuse will light the tester on one end of fuse. A good fuse will light the tester on both ends of the fuse-the metal strip inside has not snapped apart-good fuse.

You can use this method to check every fuse on a car without pulling the fuse out to check. And you will find out if any part of the panel is not powered up. Test lights are very handy. You could check every fuse quicker than it took me to explain this!

No power to windows, radio, dash

I would start by checking if the under dash fuse panel is getting power to all the fuses. A few will be hot at all times (like the brake light fuse, horn fuse), but with key on, all fuses in the fuse panel should have power available to them.
Use a test light, clip the ground clip to a metal bracket, and use the test light probe to touch the fuses at the ends-the little indents on top of fuse is open to the metal strip in the fuse. When the probe touches that strip, the test light should light, meaning power is getting to the fuses. No light? Maybe not grounded good-keep trying until you get a light when touching the fuses through that little **** at top of fuse. When you have a good ground, check all fuses. With key on, all fuses should have power-now you can check the radio fuse and dash fuse.

You can do this also to check for a blown fuse. Even a blown fuse will light the tester on one end of fuse. A good fuse will light tester on both ends of fuse. A blown fuse will only light tester on one end. You can check fuses this way without pulling the fuse out to inspect.
If no power to the fuse panel or to part of the panel, look for a bad fusible link or maxi fuse that distributes power to the fuse panel. There may also be a relay (ignition relay) that the key switch turns on to send power to the fuses that are hot in accessory or run.

Where is the fuse located for the insrument panel on a 1997 grand jeep cherokee

Here's another tip when checking fuses. Use a test light with a probe on it. You can check all fuses in the fuse box in about 10 minutes. With key on and light switch on, all fuses should be powered on both ends of the fuse. The little indents on top of fuse, both ends, can be probed with test light. Every fuse should light up the test light on BOTH ENDS of fuse. If both ends don't light, that's a bad fuse.

What fuse is it for taillights and dome light 2000 ford focus

Running lights (left side): Fuse #47 -- Running lights (right side): Fuse #48 -- Brake lights: Fuse #54. Fuse panel is on the lower left side (underneath) the dashboard. NOTE: If it is your brake lights that are not working and fuse # 54 looks okay, check the brake light switch, it may have gone bad. Dome light is fuse #46 or #47 depending on model.

Interior dash and running lights dont work but my signal and brake lights work else works

Look at fuse #18, a 15 amp fuse, in the fuse block. This fuse powers both the tail lights and instrument cluster lights. Usually both of these light systems are powered by the same fuse so when your cluster isn't lit up you'll know right away that your tail lights aren't working as it's not safe to drive without tail lights. Your brake, turn, and head lamps are powered by different circuits. Hope this helps and good luck!
